Everyone who owns a dog, has owned a dog or is thinking about getting a dog should ready this book. Heck, if you know someone who has a dog you should read this book. It was perfectly written with an ending that was a bit predictable but still tragically wonderful at the same time. I cried so much at the end I couldnt even tell people about the book without tears rolling down my face! But in the end, the message was clear - your dog may be a pain in your ass 99% of the time, but Grogan was right, Marley was a great dog. And maybe for that, we love them even more.

I thought this book was just okay. I went into it thinking it was a memoir and was thinking to myself "man, they will let anyone write a memoir these days!" Then when I realized it wasn't a memoir, I was kind of disappointed as I thought it could have been developed a little better since it was fiction to begin with. I didn't find the book horrible, but I didn't like the narrator at all. He only barely redeamed himself a bit in the end, not much though. I am glad to have read it as it's been sitting on my shelf for quite some time. I will probably watch the movie. This won't end up on the "read again" pile.

I'm a big Karen Chance fangirl, so this was on my Must Buy list. I wasn't massively keen on how Cassie's love life played out over this book - I'm not a fan of love triangles (understatement). (view spoiler) Relationship developments aside, I liked this book - while fast-paced as always, this book didn't go at a breakneck pace which I appreciated! I loved finding out more about Cassie's heritage and it was great to see her growing into her powers. And oh, an excellent setup for the next book.
This was a really interesting and funny book about a young boy with autism, written from his unique perspective of the world. I really enjoyed this book!
Interestingly enough, Graveyard Book could be considered a retelling of Jungle Book, substituting ghosts for wolves, vampires/werewolves for bears/panthers, and Jack for Sher Khan. I had a hard time deciding if I "liked this book" (3 stars) or "really liked this book" (4 stars). It was fun to read, but the story didn't stick with me as well as other Gaiman stories, and there were many unanswered questions. However, I understand that the answers to those questions are outside of Bod's POV and therefore outside the scope of the book. However, after reading Jungle Book (on Gaiman's suggestion in the Graveyard Book acknowledgments), I bumped it up from "liked" to "really liked" because I see the parallels, which are pretty neat. I do wish the illustrations were better placed against the text in the Kindle version, though. It was a bit confusing; some of the illustrations looked like they were supposed to be spreads, but instead of being on a single Kindle page, they were split in half or something. I'd have to pick up the hardcover to see if my guess was right or not, though.
I liked the idea for this book. It was really easy to read and very interesting the see the points of view from the three major religions in our lives. Seeing the point of view from the Christian woman was also interesting because her viewpoint was at times so different than mine. I feel like they all became more spiritual and understanding people but didn't come much closer to their specific religions. They found an interesting middle ground.
Have you heard of colonisation? This book is a must-read for anyone interested in learning more about how colonisation constructs false-consciousness' about race, ethnicity and ultimately leads to violent struggles for power.
