It's hard for me to say that this book was amazing. I would probably choose the word beautiful. Amazing wouldn't be the word I would choose because this isn't an amazing story--it's truly an inconceivable one, but so beautifully written. I remember vaguely hearing about this story in the summer of 2009; I was away with my husband for the majority of the news interviews so I didn't focus too much on it. I finished this book several days ago (I couldn't put it down!) and have been trying to think about how to convey my feelings after reading it. This was quite possibly the most heartbreaking story I have ever read--however, it was also quite possibly the most heartwarming and inspiring story I have ever read. I tried to place myself in Carolyn and Sean's situation while reading this and that was quite difficult to do for many reasons, but I cried with them while re-living their journey. I admire their strength; while Carolyn didn't think she had it, I think she is such an incredibly strong woman. Perhaps the most difficult part for me to read was Sean "delivering" Logan to the Morell's. I found it a touching sentiment (perhaps insignificant to others but it didn't go unnoticed by me) that Shannon chose the outfit picked by Carolyn to "introduce" Logan to the world. I hope that one day Logan will thank Carolyn and Sean for being so selfless and so remarkable in making their choice to give him life. I also hope that Drew, Ryan and (someday) Mary Kate realize what amazing people their parents are. They are the most selfless, remarkable, loving couple I have ever heard about. Lastly, I hope that Carolyn and Sean can continue to have the strength and support to keep "getting through". They have given the most amazing gift of all.

** spoiler alert ** I flew through this book because I just "Needed" to know what happened. I think Zara is a little crazy with the whole obsession with Nick, but overall it was really good. In the next book, I so totally want her to finally "embrace" that she is now Queen Pixie!!!! As for this book, Zara spends most of it trying to find different ways to get to the Land of the Gods. Astley and her attempts are sabotaged at every turn. I truly get the feeling that Astley has fallen in love with her, and she is just so totally wrapped up in "saving" Nick that she won't look around and see what is obviously staring her in the face.

Honestly wish I had seen this exhibition. Heyman has one a wonderful job in the book surveying American Poster art. The big names are present, and many genre's, each of which in years since have seen shows dedicated to them (ie. New Deal posters, WWII, circus). The book has great color reproductions, and the preceeding essays, sidebar notations and glossary biographies provide plenty of context to the work.
