Good, light read. A very intriguing twist on the classic Alice In Wonderland tales - but only for the fans, otherwise the puns and the parodies will be misunderstood, and at best confusing for the Wonderland-laymen. Nothing too intellectually challenging, but would make a great great movie. What else to expect from a Hollywood-class writer?

i read cloud atlas last year and was fairly dazzled. "this mitchell guy is talented, no doubt!" but i am so glad i read black swan green as a counter to that experience. where his other stuff seems intricate, puzzle-like, and sort of experimental, BSG is just a really good, really deep, storytelling-type story. straightforward and wonderful. beautiful and tragic. hilarious as well. one of my favorite books i've read this year, and not because of any gimmick or novelty-just simply a great book.

You know, this was an interesting book but I just got bogged down in the length and details of it. I might have remembered more if I reviewed it awhile back, but I read it years ago. I just remember wondering if it was worth the time. Good, but not spectacular.
If you're into enticing romance, fantasy, horror and mystery, Marked is the perfect book. What amazes me was the strength Zoey Redbird had through her adventure. Her life changed in a blink! One day Zoey Redbird is an average 16 year old who is worrying about her boyfriend's drinking problem and her upcoming geometry test. Moments later she is worrying about the crescent moon "Mark" on her forhead, and that mark is known to be as the mark of a fledgling Vampire. and in order to be an adult vampire, you'd have to survive the change. The day you have been marked, you'd have to go to a special vampire school for young fledglings. At the time of entering the school they are not actually vampires and if their body doesn’t accept the change they will die before they can become one. If you haven't read The House Of Night series, I would suggest you do so now :)

The most poetic non-fiction that I have ever read, the journalistic narrative of bordering crossing through The Devil's Highway is not only beautiful writing, it is also culturally pertinent. Whichever side of the immigration debate you land on, this book is an essential read.
Very dull with some short burst of interesting comments drowned by irrelevant rambles about uninteresting linguistics concepts.

I thought the relationship (if you can call it that) between Clara and Christian would be different. I was disappointed with it. The footnotes were uneccessary. I kept having to stop in the middle of a page and look down and read the footnote. And some of the footnotes were just mundane things. Completely pointless. The footnotes stopped the flow of the story. The huge scene at the end with Clara and Christian was mediocre. I thought it would be this huge, dramatic scene and then...nothing. Something happens but it her fault. I don't want to give it away even though I desperately do just so I can rant about it.
