How do I explain what made me love Everneath so very much? It wasn't just the characters, who are so realistic that you can feel their emotions emanating from the page. In fact it wasn't just even the amazing story line that had me reading voraciously. It was the two of these things blended together, my ability to get lost inside Nikki's story, that left me breathless at the end. Everneath is beautiful, plain and simple. Every story has a heroine, and this one is no different. I fell in love with Nikki from the very beginning. Her emotions were so palpable and real. Even when she made decisions I didn't quite agree with, I saw her motivations behind. Everything about her was so selfless. Flanking her on either side are two very different boys with two very different motivations. I loved Jack. Can I say that again? I loved him. He is the epitome of what we all want in a relationship. Sweet, giving, unshakable in his loyalty. His story with Nikki blew me away. Then there is Cole who, even though he is technically the "villian", I just couldn't help but love. There is so much wrapped up in his character that despite how he acts sometimes he is just too broken to dislike. These stunning characters are placed in an even more gorgeous story line, as Brodi Ashton whisks us away into the story of the Everneath. I'm not going to share any details that might be spoilers. I believe that this is the type of book you'll just have to experience for yourself. Still, I could not believe how perfectly Ashton blended myth with reality. Nikki's story mirrors a myth almost perfectly and, even when you know what's going to ultimately happen, she provides enough hope to keep you hanging on. Love plays a big part in this story. The link between two people who love each other so much that time, nor space, can separate them. It broke my heart with its beauty. Reading Everneath was effortless, if that makes any sense. It was such a pleasure to turn every page that it was almost like I wasn't reading at all. What Brodi Ashton has created within this pages is absolutely wonderful. There is no way I can explain to you why this book touched me so much, only that it did. I ended the story with tears in my eyes and something beyond a need to find out what happens next. More of an ache. I haven't been as in love as I am with these characters in a long, long time. That alone makes Everneath one of my top reads, not just of the year but of all time. If you are a hopeless romantic, if you are a fan of mythology, or if you just enjoy rooting for the good in the world, this is a book you'll enjoy. I recommend Everneath with all my heart.

** spoiler alert ** I have to say I enjoyed the first two books more than Faefever. Don't get me wrong it is still a good book and there were many things I loved. It was great to see more of the other sidhe-seers and I hope we'll get more of them in the next books. I want to know what special powers the others have apart from Dani's super-speed. I also want to see all of them, or at least a bigger group, in an epic fight. I loved that we got to see more of Christian. I really like him but like everyone else in this series he is overshadowed by Barrons. :-) It was interesting to get more info about the Seelie and the Hallows. I'm still not sure if V'lane can be trusted but at least he gives out some info. Barrons wasn't in the book as much as I was hoping for. But he was awesome as usual. I just love it when he is a pissed alpha. LOL But there are some things that start getting on my nerves. First of all, the constant repetition of what's happened in previous books. I'd assume a normal person starts a series with the first book so no need to tell us again. There's also the glossary where you can look things up. Mac is pretty. I get that! She's the prettiest girl ever, every man in Dublin wants her. No need to tell us over and over again. I also get annoyed with the description of her clothes and how much she likes pink. I GET IT! Sometimes for me there's too much thinking and not enough action. There could have been more about the Voice lessons, for example. This seemed pretty interesting. I was also disappointed when she and Dani were fighting Unseelie and all we got about it where two lines. I'd have loved to see them in action. It's also getting annoying that everyone seems to be obsessed with who is fu***** who or who doesn't or wants to. Unfortunately it seems we're heading towards a HEA. *rolls eyes* I don't like that! I cannot see Barrons with her that way. Never! I already said in my review for Darkfever that I enjoy them as teacher and student but more... Not believable! I cannot see what Barrons could see in her! They are miles apart! Not the same league! I wonder if any woman can ever be worthy of him. I wonder how KMM will pull the romance off since I'm sure she'll write some sex scenes. But the heroine got raped by four guys. Is she going to get over that within a few days? Well, I'll soon know. Like I said I still enjoyed the book but some things didn't sit right with me.

2 ½ stars. I was kind of bored for the first 2/3 of the book. The last 1/3 was better, but not enough to recommend. STORY BRIEF: Penelope is 28 years old, plain, shy, and a wallflower at dances. She believes she will remain a spinster living with her mother. She was secretly in love with Colin for years. She spends a lot of time with her best friend Eloise who is Colin’s sister. Colin is a charming bachelor and likes Penelope as a friend. Colin traveled a lot over the years but is back in London for a while and attending the ton parties. The main topic of conversation at the parties is the secret identity of Lady Whistledown. She has been writing a gossip column for more than ten years. Lady Danbury announces that she will pay a thousand pounds to anyone who can discover Lady Whistledown’s identity. REVIEWER’S OPINION: I was tired of the arguments and discussions about who was and was not Lady Whistledown. I was not engaged or pulled in. I was simply reading this to be able to write a review. I really didn’t care about the characters or events. The last third was reasonably good. And I did like discovering who LW was, but on balance I wouldn’t recommend it. I might have been better if we saw Penelope change, but she didn’t. She was still the shy plain wallflower that she always was. It would have been nice to see why or how Colin fell in love with Penelope. It was too sudden with no reason. So, there was no developing relationship to watch. DATA: Story length: 370 pages. Swearing language: mild with one occurrence of a religious swear word. Sexual language: none to mild. Number of sex scenes: one, 9 pages long. Setting: 1824 to 1825 London, England. Copyright: 2002. Genre: historical romance.
