so the back cover says that it's "choke-on-your-coffee funny". It's NOT. it's just okay and i was incredibly disappointed. especially after reading I'm a Stranger Here Myself

Pretty engaging, however the language and some violence seems too mature for my 6th graders. High school would be more appropriate.

Poca roba, un raccontino sotto forma epistolare e due romanzi appena abbozzati (di cui il secondo, Sanditon, anche piuttosto noioso). Consigliato solo agli aficionados della Austen.

A naturalists perspective on Florida from a yankee perspective. Well written narrative of living in a cracker community in early 1900s Alachua County FL. Makes me want to be a farmer and writer.

Over the years I have recommended this book more than any other. For an honest and straightforward telling of both sides of the environmentalism movement, there's no better account than when John McPhee put Sierra Club founder David Brower and master dam building Floyd Dominy in the same rubber raft and ran the Glen Canyon rapids right before it was flooded by Lake Powell. McPhee's masterful reporting lets you see both sides.

The relationship between the characters as well as the world building was wonderful. The conflict was slightly over the top however. I just didn't see why there needed to be an all out battle between clans. It just was a little too much to be honest. At times the tension and explanations seemed a little contrived, as if problems were being created for more action and not for plot development. Otherwise the book was great fun and laid some great foundations for future books.

Wow... words fail me. This book was amazing, heartbreaking, moving, terrifying, inspirational, unbelievable... beautiful. I don't typically read non-fiction, but my book club selected it. I am so very glad they did. My grandfather was a Navy Ace in WWII, and was shot down over Japanese waters and forced to wait for rescue in his tiny life raft. After almost 12 hours, he saw a ship on the horizon and used his signal mirror (which we still have), not knowing if it was an American or a Japanese vessel. It turned out to be American, and he was rescued. His story has been a part of my family's history for as long as I can remember, and also chronicled in numerous accounts and books. Clearly, my grandfather's story doesn't come close to what Louie endured, however my beloved, heroic grandfather died in 2009, and after reading this book, I now realize the unparalleled opportunity I missed out on by not speaking with him in detail about his time in the war. READ THIS BOOK.

It was ok, I wasn't not expecting Bella to get pregnant or for Jacob to fall for the kid. I didn't like the ending though. She didn't say what was going to happen to Jake and Renesmee.
