This was one of my exhibition books. I haven't read all the chapters in the book but i read majority of the chapters. I thought that this was a really good book on Tibet because it had a lot of information that i didn't know before, for example it talked a lot about the CIA's involvement in the Tibet-China issues and how President Eisenhower actually helped Tibet with military before Mao Zedong had hit the cultural revolution in Tibet and before Mao wanted to get rid of the four old and said that "religion is poison". so overall in terms of facts and knowledge that I've gained from this book is very high. i would give it a 4.5 out of 5.

This one really made me laugh. I love the dark humor. I don't know why I take such comfort in books that aren't afraid to just say the absolute worst thing... like how the mother of the kid in the coma or whatever was right to be suicidal. I feel horrible for even writing that, but wait, Nick Hornby wrote that- but the way he does it, it kind of makes you have to laugh a little. This is not coming out right. I don't know... just read it, you'll see what I mean.

I was first introduced to the Dresden world several years ago when the Sci-Fi Channel adaptation aired on TV and I had been interested in looking into the series ever since. However, with my mind on other things when entering a bookstore, I never got around to picking the first novel up until recently before Butcher's latest in the series, Ghost Stories, was released by way of a convenient display in the local B&N. While there are flaws (exemplified by other reviewers so I won't go into them here), the book was still very enjoyable to me. It had some wit, it had some grit, and it had moments that were just really good, stupid fun. This series isn't going to be for everyone, but you never know until you check it out. I know I'm glad I did.

A wonderful collection of some of the best aphorisms ever spoken from one of the wittiest men who ever lived. I can't get enough of Oscar's quotations.
Mary Ann Elizabeth Rodgers, called Polly by her family, is the fourteen-year-old daughter of a Baptist minister. She was born and raised in England, but now her father has decided to move the family to Minnesota in search of religious freedom. Polly begins her diary on the journey by steamship to America and describes the challenges her family and friends face on their journey to their new home, challenges that do not end once they reach Minnesota. The Rodgers and their fellow settlers face the bitter cold of winter and the scorching heat of summer, endless blizzards, a disastrous plague of locusts, as well as illness and death. Land of the Buffalo Bones is an excellent addition to the Dear America series that described the hardships of life on the prairie in the 1870s. It is unique among the books of the series in that it is based on the life of a real person from the author's family. I recommend this book to all fans of the series.

Was interesting how the author made a fictional novel about a true crime commited in California many many years ago. At first I thought I was going to be reading a true crime type of novel...then about 3 or 4 chapters into the book in dawned on me that it was not a non fiction book, but that the story was ficticious but based on a true crime. Sort of like novels like author John Jake writes..history lessons that revolve around fictiticous characters. Still it was a pretty good book.
