After Maddie's father dies, she sets off into the Arkansas wilderness to kill the man who murdered him. She hires the two most ruthless lawmen she can find to assist her. She is fourteen. I picked this up because it is scheduled to be made into a movie by the Coen brothers. It was originally published in the late 1960s, and reflects the Western genre convention of spare writing and sharp dialogue.

Great book if you enjoy reading Mr. Simmons postings on ESPN.com. The book is the articles he wrote with updated notes on how his feelings actually played out. I recieved this from my best friends in NYC so probably won't swap.

Hot guys and cute animals......where do you go wrong? This book was just what I needed it to be — lighthearted, funny and romantic. I love a hero who resists falling in love, but just can't help himself. I'll be looking forward to more from this series.

A fantastic book dealing with racial prejudice in the deep South. Each chapter is told from one of the main characters point of view. The vernacular is spot-on for that era. Mudbound is very engrossing; I couldn't put it down. It's a powerful novel that you won't soon forget.

In the high mountains of Colorado, Clayton Taggart dreams of the day when he can leave the rough life of a mine surveyor to become a teacher. In the midst of his plans, he meets Jackie Fontaine, a newcomer from the East whose strongwilled spirit causes friction from the start. Just as the spark of love ignites, tragedy strikes, leaving Jackie with a secret so terrible she would rather lose Clay than share it with him. Can anything draw Jackie from her self–imposed exile and open the shutters of her blinded heart?

I have read this book three times and am still reading it and learning from it with each new read. It speaks profoundly to the way we relate (or do not relate) as human beings.
amor, amo este libro
