This wasn't what I thought was, that is a Disney history. Instead this gorgeously illustrated book can be summed up as: Animation is brought to life by drawing like-like characters. Maybe an arist would get out of it.

I love Forster. He's so old timey, not afraid of big themes and strong emotion. Add that to a fascinating setting in India, an incisive critique of colonialism, a Rashoman-like mystery, a crochety old British widow and some good old-fashioned repressed interracial homoeroticism and there's nothing not to love about this classic.

Great Epic Fantasy! Sanderson has a great gift at world building and creating entire new worlds and peoples. The characters are very deep and complex. Great story. Love how much the magic system and world history is hinted at but not explained in great detail....yet. Can't wait for book #2 in the series!
This quick but profound read should be required reading for every young person based on the moral question it poses. Simon Wiesenthal (aka "The Nazi Hunter"), a Jewish concentration camp prisoner, recounts in a short story the time he was asked by a dying German soldier to forgive him for a particularly horrifying atrocity he and his group had committed. Simon's stunned and stony silence during the confession went on to haunt him and decades later he asked a number of scholars what they thought — should he have forgiven the soldier? The scholars' answers are as thought-provoking as the story itself. It's the discussion of life at its best.
The first time I read this book, it served as a relatively comprehensive introduction to Symbolist Art. Over fifteen years and many, many books later, I still find this to be a good starting point for studying the movement. There is a lot missing, and I wouldn't have necessarily made the same choices about what to include, but this is a solid, accessible overview.

** spoiler alert ** I liked almost every aspect of this book. I loved the action and demons and such. The only part I did not like was that he killed Nathaniel off in the end. I really thought he should have killed Nouda and gone back with Kitty or something like that. I really liked him and Kitty, but then Jonathan Stroud went off and KILLED NATHANIEL , THE FRICKIN' MAIN CHARACTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nathaniel was like, my favorite. I also hated the part where Kitty said, "So much for your promise." Cuz now he's dead... :( (don't know how to make it cry)
This is the first of the Dirk Pitt novels that I've read. I really enjoy how he takes a current situation and adds in the archaelogy/history details to make a good mystery/thriller read.

What a great story. The plot was developed with each page and tension of the story held my attention true the whole book. I was really enjoying every page. The couple, Shaun and James, were really great together, and totally hot. I could feel the emotions from both of them true whole story and it never stopped. The story is really well written and I LOVED IT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED STORY !!

When most people think of Washington Irving, they think "Oh yeah, isn't he that dude who wrote that movie with Johnny Depp?" Fortunately for us, most people are idiots. When he wasn't busy being ambassador to Spain or fighting ninjas, Irving spun some immensely entertaining yarns set in colonial America of the 17th Century. Collected here is some of his best work. I highly recommend it.
