Combo Sáu Người Đi Khắp Thế Gian (Bộ 2 Tập) - Tái Bản 2016 Thư viện Sách hướng dẫn

This book was published by Museo Eduardo Carrillo as part of an effort to publicize the work of this deceased artist. He lived part-time in Oaxaca, Mexico, and part-time Santa Cruz, California, where he taught art for many years at University of CA. While I did enjoy the art itself, I feel this volume is incomplete, and more about the people who put it together than it is about Ed. The quality and quantity of the reproductions could have been better. Much is made of his second marriage, as if his life and art didn’t begin until then. There is little mention of his murals, and no photos of them, and no mention of his ceramic art and its connection with his Oaxacan roots. There is a large proportion of written text to painting reproductions. Many of the reviews are a bit too scholarly and don’t reflect the dreamy way that Ed viewed life and art. Ed saw magic in everyday life and the common man and woman, and I wonder what he would have thought of so much lofty analysis. He was decidedly more hands-on. Some of the poetry in the book is more appropriate in that it reflects his abstract way of thinking. Anyone who is interested in Eduardo Carrillo’s fantas-tic art best check out the Museo Eduardo Carrillo website gallery at http://www.museoeduardocarrillo.org/h... rather than look at this book. The website interface is clunky, but you’ll get a more complete picture of the man through the more varied collection of his art. Better yet, find a show or mural and take a look at his images first-hand.

Maus I: A Survivor's Tale: My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman is a memoir portrayed in the eyes of a Holocaust survivor’s son. His son (turned comic book artist) has taken it upon himself to interview his father in the hopes of recounting the horrific event that transpired during Hitler’s Nazi regime. Art also give us a view of his turbulent relationship with his father. A man who dishes out judgment and has no compassion, but is understood to be the way his is because of the great loose he had to face earlier in his life like the loss of his first born and his beloved wife. This book is an easy read but compelling as any other 200 page book. It gives us slight humor with an array of vivid information. People who would be interested in such a book are the people who find the stories of such survivor captivation. You will enjoy this book if you are aware of the genocide that occurred in the early 1900’s. Other people who would like this book are those related to people who have been affected both directly and indirectly. Personally this book touched a cored with me. I can’t wait to read the second part of it. The Holocaust has always been of great interest to me. It has shaped the way I look at humanity as a hole. As a human race we’ve learned to hate the differences between each other.
