The anecdotes in this collection are best read over a longer period of time, rather than straight through. Many were amusing, many evoked a feeling of "gosh, I'm glad that wasn't me," and many made me wish to have a similar experience. All in all the book does well with his intended purpose, a collection of stories accumulated from the magazine. I would keep it, instead of shelved, on a coffee table or even in the bathroom!

I consider myself a pretty smart person, who is trying really hard to be in tune with my daughter. How I missed some of the signs of her needing to nap and sleep shocks me. But, we're learning and things are getting much better. I'm skipping around, reading chapters at a time. The book is well laid out and interesting. I could do without all the little vignettes, but this has definitely been helpful.

This book makes me furious. The crappy writing makes me furious. Dan Brown makes me furious. The fact that idiots read this book and think it's an accurate depiction of the Catholic Church (or, really, an accurate depiction of ANYTHING) makes me furious. The number of weeks it spent on the New York Times Bestsellers List makes me furious. The endless spinoff books make me furious. The fact that so many people have read this book who absolutely never read books SHOULD make me happy because at least they're reading something that's not the comics. But frankly, the fact that they might mistake this for literature makes me furious too. I need to lie down.

I was given this book. I did not plan to read it as I tend to avoid overly trendy books/movies/fashion etc. Since it was given to me (and hundreds of people told me my dog looks identical to Marley) I decided I had to go ahead and read the book. I didn't plan to like it, I ended up pretty surprised at not only how much I love the book- but how well it is written. Equally humorous and sad (I cried openly on an airplane through the last couple chapters) this book touches on the close nature of the relationships many of us have with our dogs. Enjoy.
