** spoiler alert ** I think this book was good. It has a little bit of a cliffhanger at the very end. Claire lied to Cam saying that she has a boyfriend bak home in Florida even though she really likes Cam and Cam also likes her back. At the end, Massie learns that Todd's dad bought a house and Claire doesn't know yet. I don't that Massie wants Claire to move to Chicago! This book was very exciting in some parts. Also this book is focused on Alicia which I think is cool! I recommed this book for anyone who likes drama and romance.

George split what was to be the final book into two parts aka. A Feast for Crows & A Dance with Dragons. Instead of telling half the story of ALL the characters in the first half, he chose to tell the full story of HALF the characters... and will tell the full story of the other characters in the second half. He didn't want to split the book in half with a "To be Continued..." ending. Though I think the mistake was that MOST of the characters that are focused on in part 4 of this series were seemingly new and not so important characters and some of the less colorful characters we already know of; such as Sam and Sansa. Brienne is the exception as she plays a big part in this book and she is quite an interesting personality but the rest of the story really falls short and drags on with little climax or resolve in the end (knowing that half the remaining part of the book and the more interesting aspects and characters of the novels will be told in "A Dance with Dragons". Though I've heard and seen that it hasn't gotten good reviews. I'll still read it to finish off the series but I'm kind of disappointed. The writing is superb; don't get me wrong, but a lot of the little plots and surprises are too few and too far between. The ending didn't really leave me with the same WOW factor that kept me reading on in the previous books of this series.

this is a delicate little nightmare of a book. its got a great land-of-the-dead thing happening, like all my favorite jonathan carroll and kevin brockmeier themes, but a little less playful; a little scarier. i finished it and immediately reread the first 100 pages, so i suggest you do the same. however, too many uses of the word "desultory", which is just a word i have a personal aversion to. twice in one sentence will make my skin crawl...

Clive Cussler once had my attention. His books were well-researched, he seemed to understand a great deal about geology, archaeology, etc. and the first few Dirk Pitt novels I read were outstanding. Over the years, his books have slowly lost their appeal to me. They seem to grown in absurdity and unimaginative coincidences. I thought it might be different to read some of the stuff he has written with other authors. Would the Austin novels be rehash of the Pitt novels, or could other authors bring freshness to the adventures of the National Underwater and Marine Agency heroes. Fans of the series need not plan on rejoicing. This book reminded me of the many "Doc Savage" novels I read back in the day. Completely ridiculous story line with an absurd villainess and silly henchmen. It is almost as if this book was written for the same juvenile audiences that used to read Doc Savage or The Avenger-- the pulpy/comicy magazines of the 1930's. etc. I regret that I did not enjoy this book. I have others sitting on my shelf and will likely try another from this series before completely giving up on it.. but this one was so silly and absurd that I was left with bitter disappointment. Poorly written, poorly plotted, and simply terrible.

I love the book and I love Stephen King (even though I disagree violently with a lot of his personal opinions!), but I think what I mainly love about this book is the premise! It's just so awesome! To not only be living in a place with all of these ghosts (I LOVE haunted house stories!) but to be stranded there and unable to escape--it's brilliant! As great as it is, I wonder what it would have been if he hadn't been coked out of his head most of the time he was writing it. I am now ready to tackle the sequel, Dr. Sleep, and am so excited about it!
read it in French if you can. . .

I laughed, I cried, I got angry at times and just felt such wide a range of emotions. This was a great story; not short of a few flaws, but truly engaging. It is certainly a very real part of American history that we should all know.
