John Irving is a genius of modern literature. Tragic yet funny; I found myself constantly belching laughter in the face of certain tragedy. His characters are on a level all their own and their interactions exemplify Irvings ability to see the human aspect in all forms of life. His struggle with lust has to be my favorite insight on the subject, second only (and a very close.second) to Wilde's "A Picture of Dorian Gray." Any reader or observer of life and lust will fall in love instantly with this.modern classic.

It's good to read this book every five years or so. I am never failed to be moved by this book. It's like I first read it in 1998, you know? I was in freaking sixth grade. I am always moved by stories about people trying their darndest to good. This is a book that will always make me feel more hopeful about life. I love the humor, the characters, the sincerity. If I can write a book like this one day I would die a happy girl. Previous re-read was April 9th, 2009. This was my review: "An old favorite. Lots of room in my heart and belly for this book. It's like a warm bowl of yummylicious soup."
Yay! This one was good!!! I find sometimes her stories get a little long winded...but KUDOS Gaelen...this one was great! 4.5 stars

The wife of an actor just nominated for a television Golden Globe award accidentally discovers that her husband may be having an affair. Or is she just being paranoid? Our protagonist tries to discover the truth while revealing scenes both current and past regarding the state of her marriage. There is a stereotypical botox scenario, but this book by the wife of a famous actor (Dennis Leary) is not a woman-scorned-writes-scathing-revenge-dirt thinly disguised as fiction book usually seen coming out of the entertainment industry. For one thing, she has been with her huband for 25 years and they are still married in real life. This is a statistic quite unusual for Hollywood, and that experience she brings to her writing makes for an absorbing read. Without giving it away, I can say I found the ending to be both an unsatisfying lack of conclusion as well as an extremely satisfying way to end a book about real marriage.
Good premise, interesting 'world', like the other Reynolds books I've read, but also slightly disappointing (like other Reynolds books I've read). Book is way too long and really has a disappointing ending, which seems to be setting up a sequel that I don't think it needs. First book I read on my Kindle!

There's a play in here about a man suffering with Alzheimer's that made me understand why my grandfather suffered so horribly. It was a powerful read at the time.

This was the first book of my vacation. I loved it. It's a sweet story and I have been thinking about going home to bake bread since I finished it. It took a little getting used to though, that the main character, a grandmother, was only 40! I liked it enough to download the author's other two novels right from my beach chair (but I didn't start to read them yet.)
My favorite. Everyone should read this book.
Amazing book if you can put up with the fact that there is no real story. The story is just an excuse for a fascinating commentary on human nature and how it's pretty hard to be a nice guy in the modern world.

I love David Farlands Runelord series, and this was another excellent story. My only criticism, is that although you learned new and interesting facts about the story and its characters, it still ended pretty much in the same place the previous book ended. There was no advancement. I felt that Borensons storyline could have been a little less detailed, allowing it to be combined with the previous novel.
