THis book was alright. At some parts it was a little slow, but otherwise it was quite good. I enjoyed this book because for some reason i love to read about romance, slaves, and struggles. I would suggest reading A Light To My Path for highschoolers and older. It keeps you enticed and wanting to know what happens.

3 out of 5 stars on Ordinary People, Extraordinary Works In 1995, I received ESCAPE FROM THE CARNIVAL OF HORRORS, a children’s title that was part of the GIVE YOURSELF GOOSEBUMPS series. It was the first time I’d ever seen a Choose Your Own Adventure book and I fell in love with it. The idea of choosing your own fate and then being able to “redo” the story once it was all over caught my attention and I remember starting the novel over and over again. Fast-forwarding over a decade, when BookRooster.Com offered me a complimentary copy of CHARLOTTE PROWLING FOR ENCHANTMENT, I jumped at the chance to read an adult version of a choose your own adventure. Charlotte goes on a cruise for the first time and is hoping for some fun, which she gets, but she also finds herself in a new world, one that her Gram used to talk about. Charlotte’s world is no longer “normal,” but is instead filled with mythical creatures and magic. In the first chapter, two men are introduced and the reader’s first choice is to decide who to go with. Although it seems the point of this novel was just the adventure aspect, I couldn’t help but wish there was more background story. Charlotte was a character I could somewhat relate to – a young woman just trying to find her way, both in her own world and the newly found one of werewolves and vampires and faeries. Secondary characters are, in a word, sexy in his (or her) own way. The plethora of creatures is almost astounding and I found myself wanting to know more about each of the species (if that is the correct word). What I found most interesting is that, despite the supernatural part of the novel, the scenarios range from completely realistic to absolutely fantastical and each one is satisfying in its own way. Readers should be aware that not every path taken will be a happily ever after but the good part is that readers can start over and find a different ending. CHARLOTTE PROWLING FOR ENCHANTMENT is definitely a fun read. As it is part of a series from author, Mima, I look forward to checking out the other two; it seems one is scifi-based and the other is a western.

I'd go as far as saying that this is the 3rd best novel in the series so far, after "The Player of Games" and "Use of Weapons" in that order. I was blown away by the quality of the story, the interesting and well-developed characters, and the sheer scale of the novel. Four stars, highly recommended. but if you haven't read Culture novels before, I recommend just starting at the beginning. "Consider Phlebas" is still the weakest novel in the series, but it is the first one and sort of a rite of passage. After that, it's nothing but excellence. If you're into science fiction at all, these are must-reads.
