A good read. A little angst going on for the characters as you would expect from a Voinov partnership. I liked the overall story arc and it kept me entertained. The characters are well rounded and brought to life. I bonded with them both and wanted things to be right for them. A good read that overall was a little fluffy and twee for me to rate more than 3 stars. I liked it, and it was more than OK so scores above a 2, but I wouldn't read it again. 4 stars and over are reserved for things I know I'll flick back to at some point in the future.

Gilda Radner's autobiography. She talks a little about her childhood and career, but more importantly, she talks about her fight against ovarian cancer. This book is proof of the amazing person she was. Her outlook was so enviable: strong, witty and optimistic to the end. I love her. Read this book.

Wow...wow...and wow! Ok so I don't know why but I put off this book...ok I do know why...It was all the hype. I was afraid to step into this book only to find out it was not hype worthy. Well, I need not have worried because this book was amazing! I found it hard to put down. Normally it takes me a whole week to finish a book but I greedily gulped down this book in 3 days. I stayed up past 2am last night in an effort to finish it but finally sleep took over and I had to read the last 15 pages this morning. Love cannot begin to describe how I feel about this book. I loved the sweet slow romance between Four and Tris. I loved the idea behind there being different factions and that if you have no faction you are poor and destitute. I like that as you go along (spoiler alert) you find out that not everyone who is in a faction is what they are supposed to be IE Eric, Marcus. I can't wait to dive into the second book and i hope it is just as good as this one was!

When I first started this book, I wondered where the author was going to go with her stories. As I settled in and got to know the characters better, I began to wonder along with Willie who in Templeton could possibly be her father. The interweaving of Willie's ancestral history and her own story was captivating. On the other hand, the story of the actual "monster" seemed to be extraneous. Overall, a satisfying read.

Very interesting format. It's written through all types of mediums. Letters, news clippings, telegrams...

Done. Hmm. I was eager to see how it turned out. The ending was definitely not one that I saw coming. I felt that it could go either way: happy or sad. I guess overall it was well written and it kept me engaged. But the last hundred or so pages just took a totally different turn than the rest of the book. For most of the book, it's about this family and the people they deal with in the town. And although the end is very much about something that happens to them, it was just a direction that seemed to be a little out of nowhere. I don't want to say any more lest I reveal too much. I KNOW it was built up, but it still seemed like a little bit much somehow. ---- I grabbed this book off the shelf to take with me on Sat. night to read on the train. There are other books I wanted to read first, but I didn't want to take one that I was afraid of losing or spilling something on. It's kind of soap-opera-y and in the prologue there are two misuses of the word "himself." I almost stopped reading it right there, but I didn't. For god's sake. How did Russo's editor not catch the use of "himself" instead of "him"? Twice! This is one of my grammatical pet peeves, so unless the book winds up being really good, I'm going to give it a lousy review. You are forewarned, Richard Russo!

I only read 10 or so pages. I didn't like it. I've tried to read his stuff before. On the cover it compares him to Borges, Rushdie and Marquez. I highly disagree. His writing is more like Italo Calvino's though possibly even more pretentious and self-conscious.
