I was really looking forward to this novel, but so many plot points were dropped and so much went unexplained that it became difficult to maintain my sense of disbelief. There also isn't much growth for the main character and the two male romantic interests don't seem all that interesting. Hopefully the next book will be better.
I'm hooked.
This book had the unfortunate distinction of being read in a burn-out phase for me. Otherwise, perhaps a 4 star rating. So i will settle for a 3.5 here. Homer is quite verbose as a 12 yr old orphan in search of his brother illegally mustered into service for the Union Army during the Civil War. I loved the weaving of fictional characters w/ historical fact and i would perscribe this book to any of my 8th graders for supplemental reading.

I want more. I just love this set of books! My daughter and I enjoyed predicting and connecting with the previous books' events and characters.
I loved this author's conversational style. By page two I felt like she was someone I'd like to know. She is self-critical and thoughtful and reminds me a lot of Anne Lamott, another favorite author of mine.
Third books in this light hearted series where the plot is more scenery than substance. I like this series for the slow pace Sefton set in discovering and getting to know her lead characters. Kelly is still unsure and insecure but still nosy and determined like her rottweiler, Carl, to get the bad guy. You need to have read the first two books to truly enjoy this one. Some secondary characters will seem paper thin if you haven't read Knit one Kill two and Needled to Death.

Funny, smart and funny.
I enjoyed this book immensely, even though its more of a short story than a book..... The pace was perfect & it was an interesting read :-)

i find myself reading hornby on the beach or in between other fantastic books. his stories are a bit like sorbet between main course books, they never really touch me deeply but they're certainly not regrettable reads.

Jane Eyre was in one of those grab-bag surprises that I got at a school book sale in about seventh grade. I actually read it then and I've loved it ever since. Mr. Rochester is such a dark, troubled hero. And Jane is a very strong woman, especially for the time when the book was written. I don't usually like such romantic, melodramatic books, but this one is different for me for some reason. (For the record, I hate Wuthering Heights)
