I listened to this book on CD and the voice was perfect for audio. Underdog Irishman trying to better himself, lost, and over his head learns from students how to teach and discovers his own worth in a flawed system.
A very interesting read with thought provoking questions.

i love this book. the answers on how to live a prayerful, god-centered, loving life is in these pages, but it's easier read than done!

** spoiler alert ** I wanted to give this book 5 stars because I really did love it. But I felt like it was obvious that Tibby hadn't killed herself. I kept yelling at the characters to call Brian and talk to him about Tibby or for Bee to ask much earlier than she did. I think it was easy to figure out that she was sick and the drowning part was just an accident. It was at the back of my mind throughout the rest of the story and distracted me from the rest of it, waiting until the girls figured that out. But, other than that, this was a wonderful sequel to the series. In rereading this book, I was less distracted by Tibby's death, not wanting to rush to the part where we'd find out what really happened to her, like I was the first time I read it. So instead, I got swept away in the other stories. It's such a melancholy book, but there is a loveliness to it. And of course, the hope comes through in the end.

I don't know man - I read this because a number of people on a Smart Bitches, Trashy Books thread said it was their favourite romance. But it was so frustrating! It starts in Leningrad in 1941, as Hitler invaded. 17-year-old Tatiana meets and is entranced by a Russian soldier, and the feeling is mutual, but it turns out he's been seeing her older sister. Tatiana says they can't be together because she doesn't want to hurt her sister, who thinks she's in love, which, okay, but then, instead of breaking it off with the older sister like a normal person, Alexander (the soldier) stays with her so that he can keep seeing Tatiana, even if just in the same room. It just got more ridiculous from there. The romance was pretty good, and the view of Leningrad during the war was engrossing, but I found it hard to take it too seriously.

Even better than the second. Rarely do I think a series gets better than the first but this time I do.
Ultima, con todo lo que me puede enseñar
