Not good as Bitter, but entertaining. Not a lot happens in this book. You could tell Jen Lancaster needed to pump out a 2nd book fast. I'm looking forward to the other books where there is more of a theme and some substance. And yes, I realize how ridiculous it sounds to use the words "theme" and "substance" when describing her books. But you get my drift.

This was interesting as an insight into the lives of world class athletes, but I wouldn't want to read another book with so much detail about sweat and chlorine! Some have commented that they didn't like the plot twist, but I think that it made the book much more interesting as the character re-evaluates her life and where she would be after the Olympics. Don't want to say more or I'd spoil it for those who haven't read it!

A must-read for food snobs. Be warned: it makes you want to run to the nearest five star restaurant and
Notes upon rereading, May 2013: What I said before holds true. The practical aspects seem even more useful this time (and make me feel very lazy about my own planning!). And while I still disagree with some of the metaphysical aspects, this time they, too, seem much more useful in terms of dealing with dying Pagans and/or their survivors in these transitional times. Notes from first reading, January 2007: The pragmatic aspects I find incredibly useful. The theology (despite the fact that I myself practice Reclaiming-tradition Paganism, Starhawk's own tradition) and "history" drove me bonkers. Ignore those, and you'll be fine.

Not literally religion, but I put it on this shelf because it is enlightening about religious attitudes and experience.
I think maybe I need to give this one a second try since so many people are crazy about it. I got a little bored with it toward the end, but I'd be willing to try again.

Gripped me up until the last 20 pages -- not sure if I was too attached to the characters to let them go, or I just was not satisfied by the ending. Either way, another great ride from Ms. Patchett.
