It was an OK book, nothing spectacular. Lots of typical interweavings of lives as Binchy does in most of her books. It was something to read while on the treadmill!

almost done - one more bart ride and I'll be through. This was fascinating, but oh so violent. A little too violent for a YA book. Not sure if I'm interested in reading the other two anymore.

If you're looking for something creepy, look no further. This is horror that is chilling--although there's some slasher elements to it. Set in an un-named world that reminded me of maybe Austria, or at least some kind of Jungian-Western-Europe made of collective unconscious fears of war, poverty, and circuses, it concerns a secret magic piece of paper, and a conspiracy involving extremely lifelike dolls with real hearts (containing souls). The main characters are children who have known nothing like real love for their whole lives. Very few good things happen in the book. It's well done.

This is a very funny account of the Spellman family of Private Investigators, told from the point of view of 28 yr old Isabel. Also has a mystery in it. I think it's the first of a series the author has planned.

This is one of my very favorite poetry books for kids. I love the illustrations and the poems are great to read aloud.
This homage to Dumas was an absolute joy to read. The "author," Paarfi of Roundwood, narrates events with a pedantic insistence. His longwinded style does not slow the pacing of the work, oddly enough. The tales of chivalry and courtly behavior, intrigue and romance, that form the basis for this great story leap off the page. You'll be quoting from this book for some time to come. "Well, you perceive how, in practicing, he strikes only at the air." "That is not unusual, when preparing for a contest" "No, and yet he seems to miss with every third stroke."
This book is about a boy named Steven who finds out that his brother has leukemia after he falls off of the counter one morning, hits his nose on the table and can't stop bleeding. So then his brother always has to go to doctor's appointments and all of these things to feel better. It ends very happy and it’s hard to put down. I personally loved this book. It made me sad every chapter. Because I have a friend who has cancer. But this book was also funny. It is a page-turner and it will make you cry and be thankful that you are not sick. It made me feel bad for all of those families with someone that they love who has cancer. I definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Like a refreshing condiment, this made Ron Howard's film that much better. I never got into all the clue Brown scattered throughout the book.
Este fue el primero de muchos, muchos libros que leí sobre los niños del Holocausto. Sigo pensando que es lo mejor. Es bastante brutal en algunas partes, pero los padres no deberían temer exponer a sus hijos a este maravilloso libro.
