Anatomy of the Spirit is an excellent read and wonderful reference book. I read it years ago but refer to it frequently. Myss does a great job of helping us to understand how illnesses are related to the health of our spirit. She links the chakras or energy centers of the body to physical diseases and helps us understand the emotional and spiritual wellness that is needed for good health.

bought it over the summer. it was very interesting. then everything kinda blurs.. and i had to read the parts out of order b/c it got boring. but very good.

Good read, though laborious at points, well researched, from a liberal bias, interesting understanding of human cultures, how they developed, and why Westerners are currently on top. Interesting theory thoroughly argued. If you don't have time for the book, there's now a DVD series out. My husband and I have found the Aboriginal's question at the beginning our family mantra, "Why do white people have so much cargo". From much cargo to less, as a result of his curiousity, thanks Yali!

"The Goddess Test" is an interesting twist on Greek mythology. I consider myself pretty well versed in the legends of Greece, but even I had a hard time figuring out which characters represented which Greek gods in the pantheon. That said, however, I was able to set aside my confusion or my hey-wait-that-god-doesn't-really-do-that thoughts and enjoy the book. It was a quick read, and the romance seemed to grow organically, even if it went mostly against the grain of the accepted mythology. I found myself caring about the characters and the consequences their actions had. I was able to peg the main twist, though, but that's probably because I've read a lot of books that do the same thing. If the reader is open to the new interpretation of mythology, the book is enjoyable. As there are plenty of Greek gods to choose from, looks like there will be more books in this series. I received this book as an e-ARC from Netgalley.

You say you like “British Humour”? (whatever that is), I’ll give you British Humour! Amongst the ranks of the great Sir Terry Pratchett, I present to you, Douglas Adams and the absolutely insane world of “Hitchhiker’s Giude to the Galaxy”. The humour of this book is very much exactly what I was raised on, being an English girl. Therefore I spent most of this book in fits of laughter. Adam’s writing style is a little bit strange and it does take some getting used to. You are not introduced to the world or the stories within it, you are instead pushed full force with the subtlety of the train wreck. But you know, once Earth has been blown to pieces and Arthur and Ford are being read literally mind-numbing poetry by an alien race whilst hitchhiking on their spaceship, you can’t stop laughing and can’t put this book down! Arthur dent is a homebody who would like nothing better than to stay in his little house, quietly drinking tea in his dressing gown and being left alone by annoying people (see: anybody else). No way in hell is that going to happen, since not only is the council out to destroy his house so they can build a new motorway right through it, but aliens have also decided today is a good day to wipe out the earth…so they can build a road through where it is as well. The world and the universe is against Arthur Dent today. Where is a cup of tea when you need it? Arthur is the quintessentially English man, who hates change and thrives on things like queueing. I must say the only character I really liked, personally, was Marvin the depressed robot. Absolutely brilliant. One scene I absolutely loved was the Whale contemplating what good friends it would become with the ground once it “met” it. Also the entire opening passage is fantastic. One of the first things you read is: “Curiously enough, the dolphins had long known of the impending destruction of the planet Earth and had made attempts to alert mankind to the danger; but most of their communications were misinterpreted as amusing attempts to punch footballs or whistle for titbits, so they eventually gave up and left the Earth by their own means shortly before the Vogons arrived.” Definitely recommend this to any lovers of fantasy/Sci-fi and British humour all around. I would give it 3 1/2 stars if goodreads had that option. Evie has cancer. She has just been told that there is nothing that can be done. She is dying. She takes a cab from the Dr. office and yells at him to stop, causing a car accident that would be fatal for her. But, fortunately for her, she has been stalked by a vampire. He runs off with her and changes her. The vampire, James, sensed something different about her and knew she was suffering from a terminal illness. He watched and waited for a good time to approach her and ask if she would like to become immortal. Evie jumps from the fying pan and into the fire with her change. A vampire war is on the horizon and her immortal existance is in danger of ending prematurely. The romance between Evie and James is sudden and honestly reminds me of a mixture of a few popular series out there. I would say that Elisa Paige takes some of the better parts and creates her own take on a vampire romance. I stayed up until 11:30 reading last night, because I could not put it down. The ending is intense and leaves you at a major cliff hanger. I would say that this is an entertaining novel. Caution for anyone sensitive to intimacy and profanity.
