Some of the most beautiful use of the English language I have ever read. I would read certain passages or sentences over and over because they were so lovely. This book was hard for me to read in terms of the subject matter, as this man, and father lay dying, so close to my own father's death. But it made me wonder what memories are made of and what things are important and replayed in the mind at the end. For a small book, it had a huge impact.

I thought this story meandered all over the place. I was really getting tired of the tangents especially in the first half of the book the circular storytelling was tiresome. The second half moved a little bit better once he decided to live as a man. I don't think i would recommend this book and I really don't see why it won a Pulitzer prize. Oh well, what do I know.

A beautiful book of poetry about peace. The artwork is from quilts and they incorporate beautiful colors, designs, and images. Anna Grossnickle Hines includes a variety of short poems. Some rhyme, some are concrete or shape poems, a few are silly and some are serious. Leaders in the peace movement are also included and the author includes information about them on the back. The book also includes 'Peaceful Connections' to describe quilt-making the inspiration for the book. Recommended for elementary school collections. This is a title to turn to year after year when you need a book that address peace.

I loved the Three Musketeers which is written by the same author. I really enjoyed this book. It kept my attention throughout from beginning to end. If you like adventure, romance, history all rolled into one book I would recommend any of Alexander Dumas' works.

I loved this book. I went into it with no expectations- haveing heard about it (surprise, surprise) on NPR. You never know what you're going to get when the book jacket describes a story set in a Depression-era traveling circus with an emotional elephant, all wrapped up as a love story. I read part of the first chapter online, and was hooked and had to go buy the book. I couldn't put it down, and once finished, I've actually read it again. True mark of a good book if I go back and read it.
