I enjoyed this book. I found the author's choice to tell the story through the eyes of three separate characters effective. Each of the three characters including a black teenager, a black male teacher and a white female teacher experienced the events in the book differently as filtered by their unique life experiences. I had not heard of this author before reading an August 12th review of Katherine Stockett's The Help. This review included a short piece written by Ms Southgate. It was less than complimentary of Ms Stockett's novel on many levels. Her comments made me want to read this novel which also dealt with race relations but in contemporary times rather than in the midst of the civil rights movement of the early sixties. I recommend this book and also plan to check out the author's next novel, The Taste of Salt.

This astonishing atrocity of a book is made even worse by the fact that trees were killed to make it. This man is a pox upon the human race.

Believing Christ outlines how the atonement of Jesus Christ is accessible to everyone. I appreciated the perspectives shared that can give hope to people feeling discouraged that they are not good enough, and may never be. Stephen Robinson outlines in simple explanations and helpful analogies the LDS concepts related to faith and works, and how the Savior can help each of us on a daily basis.

Divertissant, sans plus. J'ai bien aimé l'aspect culinaire de ce roman, qui me donnait envie de cuisiner à tout moment, mais l'aspect financier était un peu ennuyant.

Every team in the NBA every year dreams about achieving one thing that that is the NBA finals. This book is about what every team goes through just to make it to the NBA finals they must be a successful team that wins all of their games most of the time and they have to have a bond with each other where they trust each other and have each others back. Also they have to have a bond with the head coach because with a good bond the team can be successful when they play. i really loved this book because it explained the process to reach the NBA finals and their were somethings i didn't really know about.
In my journey to reach my book reading goal this year, I have read books from all walks of lives. I have recently read a lot of memoirs, but sometimes memoirs can be really depressing. I was looking for a light hearted book in the young adult section of the library last week and this is what I came up with. I chose it because I love Ella Enchanted, which is written by the same author. The Two Princesses of Bamarre was a cute story but no where near as well written as Ella Enchanted. It is pretty original, which I love. The whole story is based around finding a cure for a disease that is steadily killing off the kingdom. The story although predictable in fairy tale fashion took many twists and turns before ending up at the inevitable happily ever after. This book isn't going to change your life, it isn't full of literary value but you just might find it enjoyable.
