Great book. Every chapter started off a little tough to follow in my opinion but the thread got interesting really quickly.

September 11, 2014 I loved this story. It had me anxious even when I knew what was going to happen, since I know the story. Crookshanks is such a wonderful part of this story that you would never know if you only watched the movie. And the sneakascope was a fun part, too. Happy to be reading them again. June 2009 I am loving this - rereading this series. This book was quite good. I am struck by how the vision that the descriptions evoke in my head are still a little different from the movie portrayals I have grown used to. I was amazed at the changes that were made for the film, especially during the time-turning sequence. Great read.
This book was recommended to me and I liked the premise of behind-the-scenes of reality tv. It sounded different enough for me to buy straight away. Maybe I was expecting too much... I didn't really like the protagonist until almost the middle of the book. There's realistic, there's cynical, and then there's bitchy . Mattie is the definitely latter, and though I understood how much of the blame for that fell on her upbringing, it seemed overdone. The characters felt two dimensional, the growth and HEA contrived. Maybe this was supposed to be a satire? Even so, it fell short of the mark for me... or maybe I'm just over thinking it...

Such a guilty pleasure. I usually don't like mysterys but he writes so well that I'm anxious read more books by him.
I hated this book with a passion. From the Publisher A riveting novel about loyalty and self-knowledge, and the conflict between who we want to be to others and who we must be for ourselves. Carrie Bell has lived in Wisconsin all her life. She’s had the same best friend, the same good relationship with her mother, the same boyfriend, Mike, now her fiancé, for as long as anyone can remember. It’s with real surprise she finds that, at age twenty-three, her life has begun to feel suffocating. She longs for a change, an upheaval, for a chance to begin again. That chance is granted to her, terribly, when Mike is injured in an accident. Now Carrie has to question everything she thought she knew about herself and the meaning of home. She must ask: How much do we owe the people we love? Is it a sign of strength or of weakness to walk away from someone in need? The Dive from Clausen’s Pier reminds us how precarious our lives are and how quickly they can be divided into before and after, whether by random accident or by the force of our own desires. It begins with a disaster that could happen, out of the blue, in anybody’s life, and it forces us to ask how we would bear up in the face of tragedy and what we know, or think we know, about our deepest allegiances. Elegantly written and ferociously paced, emotionally nuanced and morally complex, The Dive from Clausen’s Pier marks the emergence of a prodigiously gifted new novelist.
An interesting and likeable book set in Shadow Falls - a camp for troubled teens who turn out to be a bunch of paranormal freaks - vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, witches and fairies. With all its good parts, I'm just not sure of the plot which seems to take you all over the place with several possible love interests and the unresolved question of what Kylie actually is. Seems to be a book full of possibilities that lead to nowhere in particular?! While slightly annoying, I'm looking forward to reading Awake at Dawn to see where the author takes the story.

Crossroads at Isca is a wonderful journey, both for the reader and the characters. Roman Britain opens up before us and draws us in. This is a real experience for historians. If I didn't know better I would swear this was a first hand account. Laurel Lamperd's understanding of the stuggle to survive in a Britain invaded in Roman times brings to life this engaging story of two your women and the men who admire them. Faine and Marella are cousins but quite opposite in their dispositions. It is easy to care about both of them. Some of the scences made me feel uncomfortable since they touched on my personal taboos but were honest in keeping with the times. I found Crossroads at Isca to be well written, entertaining and enlightening. I recommend it to adult readers.

Unfortunately, John Sandford is running out of steam. The most recent Davenport novels have become generic, almost interchangeable. However, they are still, thankfully, miles ahead of the Virgil Flower outings.

It was a fairly good book, I read it for a book club. I'm not a huge fan of the fact that the storyline went backwards and the ending was revealing but not that exciting.
