I didn't realize it was a short story. Or that it had 'Bonus Material' with it. I finished the story and read right through the bonus material - thinking it was part of the original and was VERY confused!

Worset book Meg Cabot has written in my opinion. I read it a few years back and it just had no real climax from what I remember.

I didn't want to like it...I only read it because so many of my students were carrying it around and I was bored on conference day and checked it out from the library. While it isn't the greatest literary creation ever, I think the story is amazing and draws you in until you find yourself staying up until all hours of the night reading it! Bella and Edward had me hooked, and have kept me hooked through several re-readings. Sometimes I just want some good escapist fun...and this was perfect!

A wonderfully written short story set Christmas Eve 1943. Mr. Axelson manages to re-create a moment in time and allows us to take a glimpse into the warm and festive interior of The Powers That Be Cafe as families and lovers are saying farewell to soldiers bound for war. Nat, the proprietor, 4F'ed out of military service, does what he can to make the wait for the train as pleasant as possible for everyone, including Kent, a very young soldier, half frozen and hungry in the alley behind the cafe. I couldn't give 5 stars because of the very end...(view spoiler)

A hilarious account of pop culture. Klosterman is not only a humorous and witty writer, but he transforms a mundane, run-of-the mill subject into the most interestingly familiar and hilarious reading material. For instance: his analisis of Big Brother and the Real World. Do not read this if you have no interest in pop culture...you will not get any of the jokes.

Like J.D. Salinger's book, it made me appreciate symbolism in books. And just like "Catcher in the Rye" it made me wanna be even weirder than I already was at the age of 14.
Carol Anderson makes the compelling case that the Civil Rights Movement's great failure was abandoning the human rights framework on which it was based. Due to many factors, but especially the Cold War and the lingering effects of McCarthyism, the Civil Rights Movement abandoned economic and social rights struggles. This abandonment led to a plateau in progress, and today, the struggles of people of color are very much within the realm of violations of economic and social rights. For real change to occur, we need to look beyond civil rights, to human rights.
