This book was written in 1935 and published in Finnish in the 1960's. All the same, it was pleasant to read and it hardly seemed old-fashioned at all.

A very enjoyable story. The characters are thoroughly self assuming, semi annoying, which for me, makes me love/hate all of them, even the meaner badder guys. Great con jargon, learned some new words, which i will be using in my everyday vocab.

Natasha grabbed it for me. She hasn't finished the first book yet, but she knew I liked it. Library copy.
Very informative, lots of acronyms which are hard to follow, but I highly recommend to all interested in the evolution of languages.

If you need an inspirational book, read this one!!
A very interesting book about Arunachal- a place I saw a tiny glimpse of & would love to go back. This book, still reading, has captured the very heart of the people who love living their own way of life at their own pace & within their own space, that is gradually being invaded and with their beliefs that we urbanites would term superstition for want of not getting deeper into the heart of the ways things are perceived. Its short stories, with unwoven threads, is like a journey through the dark forest itself, glimpses of light come through, when the word rests upon a silent log. read it, and find the grace & beauty of life renewed...
Judy Blume is one of my friend's favorite author and I often see her reading books written by Judy Blume, so I decided to read Tiger Eyes since a lot of my friends read it. The book talks about this girl named Davey who is going through the death of her father. With every member in her family feeling depressed, Davey feels she is the one that has to be strong. She meets Wolf, who is dealing with a similar situation in his family, and he teaches Davey to be strong and to overcome the death and loss of a family member. I liked this book because I can personally connect to the protagonist. Everyone has to deal with death sometime in his/her life and it is hard to overcome such tragic. Although the book does not have a pleasant plot but it teacher a life lesson. People should be brave and courageous when they faced a challenge in their life.
As Christopher Hitchens says in the final chapter, time for a new enlightenment.

** spoiler alert ** Something about Ray Bradbury bugs me. He's a little wooden, maybe. This I liked, though, as an eerie meditation on colonization and culture. The Martians are truly alien without being depersonalized. Two things: "Usher II" is a good story in itself, but doesn't seem to belong thematically. And why are the colonists happily returning to Earth so they, too, can be killed in the nuclear bombardment? Because they're dumb saps, apparently. "Oh, I must go be with my (dying) people..."
