I like Tom Robbins very much. This book is a non-traditional love story, with fantastical interludes. But I liked Even Cowgirls Get the Blues better. And Jitterbug Perfume better too.

http://when-she-reads.blogspot.com/20... Personally, I say, everyone, or at maybe at least every public library should have a copy of this book available for hands on. Bought this book on impulse and yes it is one heck of a very handy book to have around. It does answer alot of allergy related questions one would like to ask, for example, how it could happen or how we can avoid it, or what triggers it and so on. Nevertheless it is an interesting informative read. If you have allergies.. or know somebody who have them, should read this book as well. Examples of questions available in the book: ♠ What is an allergy blood test? ♠ Which herbal products will help my nasal allergies? ♠ Will I be able to breast-feed my child while I am taking allergy medications? ♠ What is sinusitis, and how it related to allergies? ♠ What is Lactose intolerance? ♠ Can food allergies cause heartburn? etc….

Setsuna's and Sara's relationship gets Tragic (well, more tragic than before), Kira shows his true colors, and Tokyo gets destroyed (again). I actually thought the interaction between Setsuna and Sara was sweet, if a bit over the top, and the development of Setsuna's relationships with other characters, particularly Kira, are intriguing. Everyone in this manga is so ridiculously screwed up, you sort of can't stop reading (it's very much a train wreck scenario). Anyway, here ends the first plot arc. We'll see if the second can keep me interested enough to go with it.

A little over written, but all in all a great read. It's a fascinating look at rural, small town America sans picket fences and wacky neighbors. Bissinger is unflinching in his portrayal of the racism, misogyny and angry desperation that underly the football rallies and bake sales. (NB: If you haven't seen the tv show, you're missing out. It's one of the best new dramas in years.)

This book actually haunted me when I was done. Krakauer's writing style kept the pages turning. Make sure to read the afterward, it is very compelling and brings to light the events that unfolded after the actual climb.
I've really only read part's of this, its not much for straight reading but its got a lot of interesting superstitions for the area like one where a girl takes a stone from the bottom of a stream wraps a lock of her hair around it and puts it back in the water to make her hair glossy, and if your right elbow aches on a thursday it means two weeks of rain starting tuesday. The weirdest part are the ghost stories from this region, they're kind of "wacky" and anti-climatic. And I use the word wacky in the sense that people who consider themselves to be "wacky" use it to describe themselves, if that makes any sense.

Stephan wakes up one morning with no memory of the past three months, including his new wife and the young neice and nephew he's obtained. Soon Stephen and Emily are refinding their marriage as well as on the hunt of the man who made attempts on Stephen's life and killed her brother. Honestly, this book, as expected, is built on cliches. But, it's one of those times when the reader doesn't notice the cliches as cliches. The characters were quite well rounded with an excellent balance of vulnerability and strength. I was also quite impressed by the writing style, which seemed more believable than the sterotypical Harlequin. Also, it felt as though the author had done her research and had a good idea of the time period she was writing about.

Biographical story of Louie Zamperini. Part of a B-24 bomber crew that had to ditch at sea. Story of the survival on the ocean and subsequent imprisonment as a POW in Japan. Brutal treatment by the Japanese guards. The story was very good - hard to imagine surviving what he and others had to go through. Not a great fan of Hillenbrand's writing style, with this book or Seabiscuit - too much matter of fact relating of details...

I only discovered the Hunger Games back in January. I mean, I had heard of it of course but I hadn't picked it up because I'm not a fan of action and adventure and I don't like buying hardback books. After getting Hunger Games for Christmas and finishing Mockingjay today I feel the sense of emotion that I have not had since finishing Harry Potter. I put nearly a decade of reader commitment in to Harry Potter, a sense of loss is only natural. I put a little over a month in to Hunger Games and yet I am asking myself what am I supposed to do now? I cannot be expected to just go back to the homework. Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay are all amazing books. Each one improved dramatically and each one was perfect. What is more amazing is how perfect and nearly prophetic the books are for the current events going on in the Middle East. Hunger Games and Catching Fire are both amazing books. Hunger Games perfectly introduces you to the characters, Catching Fire tells what is in between the first and the last book, but Mockingjay is where it is at. Not once have I had so much anxiety and dread instilled in me from a book. I stayed up till 3am shaking and trembling with fear for what would happen to Katniss, Peeta and Gale. My stomach churned as if the very events were happening to me and not to a fictional character. I have very few negative things to say about Mockingjay. They are there, the Harry Potter-esque epilogue and (view spoiler), but mostly I am "oh my god"-ing over how perfectly the book ended. There was no other way for the book to end and that is what makes it so amazing. Collins does not give us everything and if you believe that she should perhaps you did not read the books closely enough. Mockingjay, and the Hunger Games series, will stay with my for a long time.
