This is an interesting book on the Austrian Economist's explanation of the Business Cycle and the previous Depressions of the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries and what was done by previous governments to deal with them. He explains the role of the Federal Reserve not only in dealing with the downturn of the economy but its role in the causes of the preceding economic bubble. He predicts the effects that the government's bailouts will have on the future economy of the U.S. It is a timely and thoughtful study that contrasts sharply from the blame and panic and emotional scapegoating of the congressmen and bureaucrats who were so busy passing the buck and filling their re-election coffers with money from the institutions they were sworn to regulate that they resemble an angry, out of control mob of bullies.

I have to admit I was very nervous going into this book because of all the rave reviews. I didn't want to end up disappointed like I have so many times before (*cough*BeautifulDarkness*cough*). Everyone claimed this to be like, the best YA chick lit EVER... and they were right. I LOVED it. I was so upset I couldn't read it all in one setting because of work, but then I was also upset to pick it up the next day and know I'd be finishing it. Because I didn't WANT it to finish. I could read about Anna & Etienne all day long, everyday. Their relationship gave me butterflies throughout the whole book almost. Going off to boarding school and being the new girl? The storyline wasn't even that original, but the author executed it so perfectly. And Anna was so real. Her friends were real. Etienne? Maybe not.. are guys like that real? ;) Seriously though. It was amazing, and I'm hoping that when I pick up my next book I'm not too disappointed because I'll miss Anna and Etienne so much.

I am an unabashed Michener fan. Sorry, but I learn about places and cultures with every book of his I have read.

Heart felt poem
Fast read. Was a little disappointed in the end--was wanting more.
Great story but I felt the author rushed a bit too much. I loved the characters though and hope the author will continue to write more for me to check out. :)

Greetings from India, I finished reading this before my arrival to Mumbai in March; am about 30 hours away from coming back to the states and sweating profusely in a basement internet place in Delhi. One ought to read this book to get some sense for what life is like in a big city like Mumbai, Delhi in India. It sort of prepared me (not much) for what was an intense 5 weeks in India.

This is a review of the entire series. I have a tendacy of waiting until a series is completely done and then reading all of the books back to back. I just don't have the patience to wait a year to read the next book. I have a hard time with Mac. I started off thinking that she was weak, frivolous, really not much of a lead character. You could see some decent aspects about her but overall I just didn't care much for her. Then around book 3 I started to actually like her. Her character had been growing and I liked the new stronger Mac. I will say that it bothers me when a character isn't trusting of someone that they should be. Maybe I'm naive, maybe I'm more trusting than most people, but I find this with all untrusting characters. Their lack of trust turns me off from them. When it is blatantly obvious that they need to just take a breath and tell someone else what's going on and don't. Mac is that character. Fast forward to late book 4 and book 5 and I found myself not liking Mac again. I found myself comparing Mac to Sita in the Thirst series (by Christopher Pike). Good books, but the hatred and menace (and the fact that a man was writing the roll of a woman) has always struck me as wrong. This was the Mac in these books. Book 5 was probably my absolute least favorite of the series. Yes, I'm very glad that the author wrapped things up, and I enjoyed the larger twists and turns, I felt that this book was just TOO long. I read the first 4 books in less than a day each, yet this book took me 4 days too read. When a book takes me that long to read, it's typically unenjoyable and I am having a hard time working through it. The on again off again Mac and Barrons, while charming at the beginning, was downright annoying by book 5. Their stubbornness was too much. It's one thing to play hard to get, or want the other to make the first move, but when you weep over the one you love's body and they come back from the dead, run to their arms and kiss them for cripe's sake! Overall, I would recommend this series to others, I would just warn them of 1. the annoying amount of sex or sexual induendos and 2. that it takes patience and a will to finish everything that you read to fully enjoy this series.
This story was way too cute!
