I read this book in about 6 hours. I loved Cassandra Clare's first two books, but this one blew them all away. I couldn't put it down

Kind of well written, but I had to speed read it for uni so I didn't really dig it all that much. I found the writing lacked interest and was far to apathetic, while the story was somewhat predictable and shallow. Maybe I skimmed over things that I should have taken more time with, but I don't like the idea of going back to find out. edit: after mulling it over for a while... I think I do like this book, but it didn't leave much of an impression on me at the time.

I just wrote out a huge (and I might even say, thoughtful) review that Goodreads lost, so I'll just summarize: - the author professes to be a Christian, but I didn't find his Christianity apparent in his narrative (swear words, motivation to simplify not motivated by Jesus' call but his own feelings of overwhelmed by his possessions). - author extremely obsessed with possessions and especially brand names. Much of the book involves lists of his things, including brand names and near-reverential descriptions. - disturbing rip on his family (especially dad) for his childhood. - defines consumerism as possessions, not things like digital downloads or restaurant consumption. I feel it's the whole package, not just the items, and an attitude of "I deserve this." - gave it 2 stars because it raises an important question and has inspired me to evaluate my own possessions and attitudes.

One of my favorites I've read for Teen Lit class this semester.

Adorable photos of baby animals ask the "Who is the Cutest Critter?" is it the baby fox? The sleeping baby bear? In the end the narrator decides that the cutest baby critter around is "You!" (or baby reader). Book also contains definitions and short explanations of each animal in the back.
This was the book that opened the world of classics to me. The ending was heartbreaking, but it was the crowning glory of Dicken's classic. It took me several years to actually finish this book, as Dicken's writing tended to be boring or too heavy at some chapters. But I'm glad I persevered to finish it. It's rare to find a story that contains both blockbuster-esque excitement and literary credence. A true classic

This book is very interesting and it has a great storyline and its a book you can't put down.
Insanely loved. I even bought and downloaded the next book in the series before I finished this because I was so violently involved that any downtime in between would have made me something something. I think the second book, The Wise Man's Fear, just came out recently. I don't know how I'm going to handle waiting for a third.
