A great story about a well loved toy. My children and I loved this book. A great classic.

It might sound a little pretentious, but it shouldn't be a big surprise: Kafka is better in German. For maximum comprehension, however, English is a good direction to choose, and this copy of Metamorphosis and Other Stories is physically irresistable and brings some joy to these beautifully depressing works. Cheers!

I chose this book after reading the Stieg Larsson books because anything Little House is special to me. I needed something that wouldn't disappoint. I suppose it is unfair to rate any book after reading a series that wow'd me. But this book receives only 3 stars. It was blandly written, brief and managed to hit only the high points of Laura's books without a lot of additional details. I plowed through the book quickly and at no time did I think about putting it down and not finishing it. But as a Little House mega-fan, the book wasn't all I had hoped it would be.

I liked it well enough, but it's not something I'll ever become obsessed over like Star Wars. The book is mostly space politics anyway.

I am shocked at how much I liked this book. I got through it all in what seemed like a few quick swoops during one day. The book starts out pretty erotically charged with the fifteen year old Michael telling us the details of his affair with thirty six year old Hanna. We quickly see Hanna's dark side and she intrigues us. And she keeps Michael at a distance so we don't learn too much about her which just adds to the story. Time moves along and we meet Hanna again at a war crimes trial where Michael sees her as a law student. We learn she was a guard for the Nazis and of course did her share of bad stuff. What is important is you hang on every detail you learn about Hanna. You want to figure her out. And Michael is torn because he wants to help Hanna but has some interesting philosophical questions to deal with and not the standard she killed the Jews morality crap. I just loved the relationship between Hanna and Michael. It was complex and has left me pondering all kinds of things in my head. This was an odd book in a good way.

This is a great easy to read primer on everything you need to know. Well not everything, but if you've even had an inkling of interest in the unknown, this book will help you along your path. Its full of great scholoarly, biographical and wacko articles on intensley interesting people. It also sheds light on an entire culture full of genius ideas and great minds that goes unnoticed and unpublized. This is a must read.

Though I first read this book as a sophomore in high school, it is still one of my favorites. I read it every summer.
Loooooooooved it. Every single author had a different take on zombies or unicorns, as well as why they rocked (or didn't). The introductions tying them together made it even more fun. They were all a lot of fun, but Alaya Johnson's zombie story was my favourite.

Similar to Diary of a Wimpy kid and Dork DIaries. Sofia has a school blog which she uses to post gossip, with only occasional reminders from teachers to watch nasty comments. Sophia wants to be popular, like Mia, but is on the fringe. Her BFF, Nona, and a cast of other characters round out the story set in school and dealing with parents working in the school, BFF fights, and innocent crushes. The journal format with occasional doodles will appeal to this generation. Appropriate for grades 4 and up.
