Ok, let's begin with the fact that I tackled this trilogy when I was 12. I'm sure that, were I to pick it up once more, my appreciation would grow exponentially... HOWEVER, as wonderful as Asimov is, he writes like an engineer. He's careful and methodical, and the plot that weaves through the Foundation series is unbelievably complex. If you've got the time, and you enjoy Sci-fi, go ahead and pick up Prelude and follow Hari's awesome adventure.

Maybe a 3.5, actually. This book got creepier as it went along. I started out kind of luke-warm about it, as the child protagonist just did not have a believable voice, to me. But I did get dragged into the story. It begins with George as an adult, who goes to a psychiatrist to deal with the issues he is having with an inability to interact with his baby son. The psychiatrist gets him to fill notebooks with stories from his childhood, each notebook revealing a more disturbing portrait of our protagonist. Young George used to see an invisible "friend", but whereas many children have imaginary companions, George comes to believe that his friend is really a demon bent on taking over his soul. While this sounds overwrought, I think the thing that disturbed me most is the matter-of-factness of the whole thing. The ending especially was chilling and awful, but the whole build up in the last 100 pages will have you fascinated and appalled.

This book was so good! It did not disappoint at all. I don't know about you, but I love it when an author openly displays that they love what they do. This book was well crafted & the characters well developed. In a way, "Callum" reminded me somewhat of Patricia Brigg's "Bran," but overall the story was totally original. Will be looking for more great stuff from this promising author. I highly recommend this author.

A very handy introduction to the idea of international law by a distinguished scholar and international human-rights specialist. Well-written and very useful to anyone beginning to look at what international law means.

Wow--there's some CRAZY stuff in here. I think that the author does a good job of putting into historical context the start of Mormonism and the subsequent history of the religion, as well as the current state of the church. He's very careful to point out that all religions have elements of irrationality and plain strangeness, but most (like mainstream Christianity) have the benefit of having many generations to build 'credibility' and become accepted. Mormonism on the other hand is a very young religious movement and hasn't benefited from being shrouded by the mists of time. Not to say there isn't some weird stuff going on, but it's a more balanced view than say, Big Love :)

Not bad, but I wish it had been a little more detailed and not so vague.
A quick, interesting read. Can't wait to watch the movie and compare it to the book!

Okay. A few useful tidbits I can probably keep in mind and use. It would have been more efficient to cull the salient points down into a good magazine article. Heavy-handed on the scripture quotes -they stretched them a lot to make them fit.
