Definitely a book that those who think psychotherapy is interesting would like. Based on a real Freudina case study of a womyn named Dora, the book adds a shady murder and secret clubs. A nice summer travel or beach read, which I enjoyed doing exactly that. Similar to Freud in its treatment of womyn, which is a bit suspect. Ultimately, the psychological "issues" of womyn are studied and yet the real depravity belongs to the men in the novel who are never really analyzed, even though analysis is a key trope of the book.

One of the most visual books I can remember reading; Chevalier's description of her setting is at times mesmerizing. It is a testament to her skill that I could go in having little knowledge or interest in the time, place, or painter she was inspired by and still enjoy the book immensely.

This book paints an awfully grim picture of the US' role in Iraq. Seems like at every turn we made lots and lots and lots of mistakes, which I suppose I knew, but reading about it is just amazing. It solidified my opinions about the US occupation and how the war has been run. Quick read too, as the author's tone is fairly conversational.
loved this book, the story was great i couldn't put it down, took me two days to read.

This book really triggered my thinking about the world in which I live. I thought it was amazing the vision Toffler had and wonder how he would edit his work to update the language now that many of these things have occured.

Amusing novel about a small catholic community in the North of England. Some very entertaining theological questions - is it all right to put lard in pastry on a fast day - points out the absurdity of religion. Incredible that Hilary Mantel's writing is so diverse. Wolf Hall is a masterpiece and completely different from this.

Fun, fluffy, flirty. Chick flick with strong women that are geniuses...most of the time. When it comes to boys, not so much, and that's what makes it the most funny, plus the amusing commentary by the charater.

I wasn't able to finish this book, unfortunately. When I read Eragon, I think I was the perfect age for it: 12 or 13. But then the second book came out much later and I obtained it even later than that. By the time I was finally getting around to it, I lost interest for some reason, and instead chose to read books like Jane Eyre and Philippa Gregory's novels. But I don't doubt for a moment that the story would have unwraveled in a beautiful way, and I think Paolini is an amazing writer with an unbelievable imagination.
