Could not finish this one. I love Philippa Gregory, but I did not enjoy the fist 1/4 of this book and coudl not subject myself to reading any further. I was frustrated by the main character's repeatedly being victimized by her husband and overbearing mother-in-law. Not worth finishing this one!

I love memoirs, and this one was in the same genre as my favorite author, Augusten Burroughs...crazy mother, crazy upbringing, but with heartfelt humor

This is the sixth in Richardson's "Greywalker" series, and it's a humdinger. Harper Blaine is working on a very ordinary case for a lawyer, when she sees the ghost of a murdered man burning in his car. This is precisely the sort of thing she can't ignore, so she begins poking around. Before she knows it, she's stirred up a whole nest of mages--not to mention Chinese demons and various other Otherworldly creatures. The book pretty much grabs you from the get-go, and doesn't let up much in the next 300-odd pages. Harper isn't a superwoman, which adds to the appeal. She gets tired, hungry, and lonely, like the rest of us. Sure, she's got special abilities, but they don't always work the way she thinks they will. In fact, her abilities with the Grey have changed quite a bit since the events of "Labyrinth," and she's still adjusting to that--not to mention recovering from a gunshot wound. Add to this realistic protagonist the nods to arguably the greatest of the American noir practitioners, Chandler and Hammett, you really can't miss by picking up this book.

** spoiler alert ** Someone's Watching is a fast paced murder mystery, and it is not like every other murder mystery. Sharon Potts knows how to take her readers on a whirl wind of a roller coaster ride. From page one she has readers hooked all the way to the very last page. Robbie Ivy has liked living her simple life in South Beach. But one day, she learns things about her life that will change everything. Her father, whom she has not seen for years, comes knocking on her door. She finds our that she has had a half-sister for 18 years, and she never knew this. Her father informs her that her sister, Kate, and Kate's friend have been reported missing. Robbie is determined to find her and start a relationship with her. As the investigation is under way, Kate's friend is found dead. This causes panic among Kate's family. Robbie and her friend Jeremy, are still on the hunt to find Kate. Along the way, they uncover more then they bargained for and get mixed up with the wrong people. Bodies turn up dead, secrets begin to unfold, and the pieces start to come together. Will Robbie be able to find her sister and have the family she has always wanted? I won this book from Goodreads and am so glad I did. I could not put this book down. From page one I wanted to know what happened to Kate and her friend. From start to finish this book kept me interested. I loved Robbie's determination to find her sister. She just found out she had a sister but she still would do anything to find her. I loved the twists and suspense in the book. Ever time I thought I knew who was involved, something else came up that made me doubt it. It's not until the end where everything comes together. I love reading books like this, because once you finish, you can go back and put together all the pieces of the mystery. You can see how everything, even the little things, played a part. This was an amazing book and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a suspense filled novel!

Rock journalism died with Lester and I thank my friend Kerr for introducing me to this guy. Very much on a "New Journalism" bent, with Bangs hurling himself drunkenly into the heart of the story until he became the story, this is compelling reading - even if the story is often not worth hurling oneself into. ;-)

I thought this was going to be more of a narrative, I'm not sure where I got that impression. However, I have learned to squish my incorrect expectations and I ended up enjoying this book. It was very intriguing and has lead me to look in to other related topics, which is something I value in books of this sort; inspiring further learning.

Magical story set in Oliver Cromwell's England. Coriander realizes her mother is not like everyone else, there is something magic about her. As Coriander grows she not only figures out who her mother was, but has to confront her role in the magical world as well.

It was definately left open for more story. But Pretty good otherwise.
I was once compared to this idealistic character who wanted to change her small town for the better, and also only saw the good. It was a compliment and I cherish this book because of those kind words.
