This is another book in the lovely little series of picture books about Pettson, the farmer, and his cat, Findus. In this book, the reader learns how Pettson adopted Findus, and how Findus got lost and then found again in his first days on the farm. As in the other volumes, the illustrations are clever and full of small, humorous details. Pettson is so lovable as he patiently cares for his little cat. Findus is like a small child, full of energy and curiosity. There are other little magical creatures who lurk in the illustrations, just waiting to be discovered. The books just beg to be read aloud and shared with a lucky child.

This is without a doubt the most bizarre book I have EVER read! Like NOTHING I have ever read and I'm not sure that is a good thing! It borders on cultish type ritual/behavior.. Very strange!

Another example of how the affects of war haven't changed over 2400 years. This is a must read. Trojan Women focuses on the women left behind after war. I have read several translations of Trojan Women, depending on your taste, some are easier to understand than others. I recommend Richard Lattimore's translation.

In "Awaking Consciousness", we learn how to manage the inner dialogue that constantly runs through our minds; especially when it keeps us from being unproductive. "Experiencing Energy" teaches us how to open our minds to our internal energy, while sections three and four touch base on how to positively separate ourselves from the rest of the world. Lastly, in section five "Living Life", we are taught how to understand and appreciate happiness in its truest form. The Untethered Soul is not at all religious and not completely spiritual, but rather explores subjects that will make perfect sense to those more in touch with science and health. Of course, to those healthier readers, much of this book may seem like common sense, but either way is a great guide to getting back in touch with the more important things in life. I loved the crap out of Zadoff's first book but I really had to force myself through this one. And I am a freaking theatre geek; this was an easy sell to me. I just never felt truly invested in Z's story. A billion notes struck seemed false - conversations with friends and fellow techies and Derek--none of that seemed like a reality I knew. And I have worked backstage, and I have performed, and yet very little of this took me back to anything I could relate to. And after the three-dimensional look at a fat protag in his first book, and knowing what was documented in his memoir, I'm grossed out that Zadoff writes every fat stereotype into his portrayal of the drama teacher. Look, I am fat myself, and I promise I have ways of dealing with stress other than eating Hostess products. (read: 65)

I found myself struggling through this book at times; it is by no means a light read and it is actually quite lengthy. Still I think that Rushdie has the ability to help you actually feel, smell, and taste along with the main character. This gets rough sometimes as he lived a hard life, mirroring that of his native India's struggle for independence. This book is not for those who avoid reading about the reality of slums, sex, war (another reason why it was a rough read). But, if you are a fan of magical realism, or Indian history, or Salman Rushdie, than I would recommend this book.
