I Love this book it is the best! I read this book in fifth grade, I absolutely loved it. I want to reread it but have not found it since I read it in fifth grade. I recommend it to everyone that is in fifth grade or higher. That’s all for now.

3.5 for me. This Coben book didn't grab me right off like most of them do. But, when it DID grab me it was good and a real page turner. I was able to figure out some of it, but still had the twist I didn't expect. Really do like Harlan Coben!

Fantastic. Throughout the book, I did find myself feeling a bit jealous and wanting to find a cowboy of my own. I found myself laughing out loud, with Ree's witty commentary and could so picture myself doing some of the same things. What a great love story!

i literally just set this down and i don't need much time to consider how amazing it was. this was definitely one of the most beautiful books i've ever read. I was a really big fan of robinson's previous foray into fiction, Housekeeping, and i would say that this book is just as great. Robinison's elegant prose survives in this book, but her approach to storytelling and delivery are different from her previous works. i have had this book sitting on the back burner for about three years and the other night i decided to give it a few pages cuz i was really in the mood for some vonnegut, but i was sucked in within just a few minutes. the writing is just addictive. i really don't want to say much more because this book just needs to be digested and enjoyed.

Again, too much of a romance. And I felt like this time, Kurland was stretching the time travel issue w/ throwing in a new character that should have been recognized by people in previous books if she went back in time, but of course couldn't be since this book hadn't been written yet... Confusing, I know, but that meant it wasn't quite believable. Anyway, the historical fiction aspect was still enjoyable, but I'm getting tired of the fact that all the guys lose their personalities as soon as they fall in love (always at first sight, too). I liked this main character in previous books because he was actually a little different, but now I felt that he was interchangeable w/ any of the rest when they were cupid-struck. Not thinking straight, or at all, obsessing over her hair, hands, smile, etc, and okay, so I'm not a romance fan (the romance genre, that is). Well, I think I'll stick w/ Kurland's other fantasy series that I enjoy... Unless I let myself get sucked in w/ historical fiction and time travel again...

** spoiler alert ** Had I never read Agatha Christie's other works, I might well be giving Endless Night 5 stars--genuinely creepy atmosphere, a challenging narrative voice for her to carry off (that of a young working-class man), and a breathtaking twist at the end...what's not to love? Well, in my case, the trouble is that she's done the best elements of this novel before, and done them better earlier in her long career. She's taken one of her all-time most brilliant and shocking ideas (the narrator from The Murder of Roger Ackroyd) plus the gypsy's curse *and* the exact motivation behind it from her Miss Marple story "The Case of the Caretaker", mixed them together with Henry James' The Wings of the Dove...and it all adds up to Endless Night. I know that Dame Agatha could not have expected her readers in 1967 to have a novel she wrote 40 years earlier AND one of her lesser-known short stories clearly in mind while reading Endless Night. She liked to take an idea and try it from different angles, and certainly she does a fine job of building suspense here. It's just that some ideas are too iconic to ever re-use, and she was her own toughest competition. 1967 Agatha Christie just cannot compete with 1926 Agatha Christie for ingenuity, although she could best any other mystery writer before or since! So although this novel is actually quite strong when taken by itself, I cannot help but see it as derivative and not as worth my while as its predecessors in the Christie canon.
