Amazing! This book has changed so many of my views about international politics, aid, and medicine. Please read this book and tell everyone you know. It has inspired me to take small steps in my own life to make a difference regarding these critical issues.

One of Picoult's best books. I read it shortly before the Virginia Tech incident and it really made me look at the events differently. She did a good job getting the reader emotionally invested in all of the people involved in a school shooting...not just the victims.

Looks at new ways to view our world and society during these horrendous economic times. Korten shows how we might create a new paradigm based on "real wealth" rather than "phantom wealth". Interesting and thought provoking.

At first, I found this novel a little hard to get in to, I’m not sure why. It didn’t draw me in until probably around half way through. I think my problem lay in the fact that I found the main character Faythe a little frustrating. I Enjoyed the fact the book is about Were-cats, I’ve not read a novel which features heavily on Cats, so it was interesting to read some different. Don’t get me wrong, I love were-shifters and such, but it’s good to have variety! I enjoyed Faythe interaction with her Brothers. The story is brutal & quite dark at times & had me riveted towards the ending. I had a hard time tryingto rate this book, but I gave it 3 & a half stars. It’s not a bad read, and I will be continuing on to the next book in the series.

Interesting tidbit: the CIA used the script/set designs from a film version to aid in the freeing of hostages in Tehran. See: www.lordoflight.com/cia.html www.wired.com/wired/archive/15.05/fea...
This is a prequel to the very fun Star Trek relaunch, and it’s, like, supposed to make the movie’s plot make more sense or something. (Dude. Like anybody watched that movie for the plot.) Instead, it just gives the film’s villain, Nero, the world’s most boring and cliché villain backstory ever—“My wife/girlfriend the plot device DIED! I be evil now.” See: Batman: The Killing Joke, Dr. Horrible, and, oh, basically everything EVER. Yawn. Also, every issue ends with the reveal of—surprise!—A Character You Will Recognize If You Watched NextGen. Which I haven’t. But I recognized them anyway. Thank you, fandom osmosis! Anyway, complaints aside, this was very shiny. So there’s that.

It was okay. I got lost at some parts, and some parts didn't make any sents to me. But, hey it's a book!

After reading the 12 chapters she put online, I say "so far so good."
I am only half-way through this book because my husband "borrowed" it and has not yet even started it. But so far, I am definitely enjoying it--it makes you think about where stuff comes from. Even something as simple as running shoes have an incredibly deep history.
