This is a really great original story. So many of the novels I read, although brilliantly written and interesting, have a similar storyline to others, but this one truly is one of a kind! It follows the story of a baby born in the 60s in a very remote part of Labrador, Canada. This baby is born with both male and female genitalia, so you can guess how that might play out, particularly in this place and time period. Anyway, what follows is not a predictable story in the least, but a bittersweet, yet nonetheless uplifting story about what it means to be male or female and how in some ways we're not all that different. I definitely recommend this book if you're after a story about raw human interaction and a fresh approach to subject matter.

I never thought Wildlife conservation texts would be fun to read. As I approached the last chapters, I didn't want the book to end.

I loved this book! Two plucky best friends from Iowa spend a summer in New York as Tiffany pages spotting the famous and infamous and having all sorts of misadventures. I loved getting a glimpse into that WWII time period. I was so jealous of everything those girls got to experience! It truly was an amazing summer!

Still one of my favourite books. First 100 pages drag a bit but they are setting the scene. Then its fantastic

Since All My Children will be going off the air soon I wanted to be able to remember some of the story lines that made me a fan of this show in the first place. It does a great job of going through 25 years of history and some behind the scenes stories.

** spoiler alert ** Aw, what a sweet and inspirational book about friendship! The Girls From Ames talks about eleven girls that became friends in a small town called Ames. Throughout the years, they have grown up with each other, sharing many fond and sad memories. They have gone through marriage, divorce, a child's illness, a death of one of their friends, and so much more. Together with Jeffrey Zaslow, they have put down their memories onto paper for others to read. I was quite fond of all the girl's memories of their pasts. The part that really touched me was the chapter on Christie. It was so sad, how even though she was so young and optimistic, she had to die. That part made me cry. Another part that I felt touched by was the part about Marilyn's dad and her brother. Her dad was a good man, and it was so sad how Billy died. But I did enjoy seeing what she wrote to the guy who had killed her brother. And finally, Kelly and Angela's breast cancer. That was really sad, and I hope they are doing okay. All in all, this was a very sweet book. Yes, it was a little slow--I wasn't dying to read the next part or anything--but I managed to finish it and it ended up being quite good. Rating: 95/100
Plenty of proofing errors in the reprinting that we bought. But the story is still marvelous. Difficult to follow the writer as time as she skips through stories but suddently introduces a new character that has been around for some time but not mentioned. A unique writing style. This book is more than amazing in showing the internal struggle of Elsie with obedience though all (by an unbelievable series of encounters) is made good in the end.

A classic which I decided to read now because it has been sitting on the shelf since I got it as a birthday gift at age 13. Thought maybe it was time to read it! I think it is sort of a young adult book, but it is recommended to both the young and more mature readers. So far, so good for a fun, light read.
