An interesting take on time-travel and the complexity of relationships. I was a bit confused at times, but it was definitely worth it. This is a really sad story (of course, I read it soon after a breakup, so that could be why I cried so hard) -- grab the kleenex!

This is definitely one of the better written cozy mysteries. It wasn't AS formulaic as some of them tend to be, some are just not good. If you can get past the cheesy title, (oops, pun) this story is worth it. The only part that really bothered me at all was the love interest aspect, the main character has this almost middle school girl crush on this guy, he's into her, but whenever she's around him she somehow manages to be kind of rude to him, and just kind of dumb about it. The main characters and the location are well fleshed out. Some aspects of the mystery were obvious/predictable but you still want to keep reading to find out if you are right. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone who likes this type of mystery.

I cried. Enough said, I think, seeing as I'm not a crier. Review to come.

This book feels less like a story and more like a picture or snapshot. This book tells you what these characters just so happened to be doing during one night. It feels like there is no major theme or plot thread. Sure, things happen, some of them quite out of the ordinary, but they don't create this grand paradigm shift. This isn't an adventure. These things just happen, and then life just trundles on. And there's something quite nice about that.

Seriously weird, I couldn't understand what was going on in the beginning, but I wanted to understand, so I just kept on reading! Wonderful book! Definitely worth reading! Especially if you are intrigued by codes and maths! Review here: http://funny-wool.blogspot.com/2010/0...

I must say that I enjoyed The Pursuit of Love more than Love In A Cold Climate. Nancy Mitford is a delightful read.

For me it's the best of the series. Temeraire is on fire in this one, funny, innocent, outraged and endlessly entertaining. The best lines were the ones relating to what he was doing in the stream!

Really interesting nonfiction book that reads like a novel. I would recommend this book to just about anyone! It had all kinds of juicy details about the Chicago World's Fair and also an old-timey serial killer. Read it, read it. You'll like it! (Except maybe Claudia- might be a little gruesome for you)
Fox is the very first novel of new author Parrisha Martelly. I was surprised at how well written the novel was considering Parrisha is only 21. I still can't believe it. Even though the novel was well written, it was very hard for me to get into while reading it. I would give Fox 3 3/4 stars, but I'm rounding to 4 since there isn't the option. Parts of the story felt as though they were skimmed through, like when movies go to commercial or chop parts out of the story. Fox is on a mission to save her father, Levictious when he is taken by the Chosen. The Chosen are a group that are trying to get Pandora's Box, which we all know releases destruction. Fox is the heir to a group that are protecting Pandora's Box. At first, Fox is refused permission to go rescue her father because she is the only heir and she is also part of a big prophecy where she has the power to save the world from the Chosen. She just hasn't discovered those powers yet... After some deliberation, Fox is allowed to go on the mission--mainly because she would have done it anyway. Fox is insecure with the way people see her. They fear her and when she notices, she steps back and holds her head down. Then there are times when she can be so strong, like when she refused to back down about her father. This story started out real slow for me. It took a while for me to get into it. I found the best parts were when Fox was interacting with Falcon...who throughout the story realizes that the two share a deep pain and have more in common than he realized. The fight scenes definitely felt as if they were cut out. There would be fighting one minute, and then the story cuts to the next scene. Still, I think this was a great first novel and shows how promising Parrisha and the Vendetta Series will be in the future.
