If you ever have struggled with what it means to be a writer or creative mind, then this book is for you. It is a great satire on the artist's (I dare say human) need for conflict in order to create a true masterpiece. Always to the extreme, Chuck demonstrates, through gross exaggeration, how the small nerosis of everyones' mind can manifest itself into a monster. If you like short stories and novels this is the perfect collection for you. Beware, some of the stories are really graphic, but not one detail is unnessisary.
Title Thoughts: It really fits the book. Cover Thoughts: I don't think there could be a more perfect cover. She's wearing the white dress. There is the lake and the blood moon. She has her long red hair and if you look closely you can see the mark on her arm. WARNINGS: There is one sex scene. It is vague, but at the same time it isn't. Hm. It doesn't go overload with details. I really enjoyed this book and I am definitely looking forward to the sequel. The writing was simple enough and flowed pretty smoothly. The only thing I would change would be that the writing seemed too simple. For example there could be a sentence like this: I whispered in a tone that would let her know exactly how I was feeling. I think it would have flowed better if it was something like: I whispered vehemently. Luckily, as the book progressed and I became more immersed with Makayra, it wasn't there anymore. I loved learning about Makayra and the mark. I can't wait to read the sequel and learn even more about Lily's destiny. I enjoyed the relationship between Lily and Justin, although at times it seemed too fairytale like. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it. There was also a few pleasant surprises at the end, which I'm excited to see what will become of them. Addict's Last Words: The Blood Moon of Winter introduces an ordinary woman, who is a little anti-social, turned Goddess. We see Lily grow and fall in love. I was left wanting more of Makayra. To Buy or To Borrow: No doubt that you will enjoy it. I just suggest you wait until close to the release of the second book, though. kheili khoob bood.
Trust me I do understand some of the lower ratings for this book... But ladies I honest to goodness could not put it down...maybe because it was different; I don't normally pick something so Sci-Fi(ish) but I'm so glad I did! Of course there were things that bothered me...like everytime I heard the name Dora (which was all the time) I automatically started hearing the theme song to Dora, Dora, Dora the Explorer, and that kind of thing... you know something that breaks your "reading flow" is annoying. I wonder if I'm the only person that happened to while reading this?!?! Ha...probably so, I'm weird like that =)...So overall this was a great read, and at times very steamy (so Sara you may not like this one)...
i dont remember if i read this in high school or college. i remember really liking it. the movie version is awful!

didn't get it.
Entertaining for what it was. I'm not dying to read the sequel, but it's such an easy read I'll pick it up one Saturday from the library. I did enjoy what the author did with the mythology of werewolves- making the temperature a factor into their changing, the potential cure, the limit on the number of changes. I would have liked to see the characters, particularly the supporting ones, fleshed out a bit more as well. But for what it was, a teen werewolf romance, it was fine. Better written than twilight too, and that's always a plus.
quite good. lost thread some in middle toward end third. ANd wrap up not totally satisfyying. BUt interesting setup and writing style. good

I think my mother had a copy of this book on the shelf at home. It is about a zany woman that is also a little annoying. The book was fine summer reading when I was younger.

I forever see and hear Jeremy Brett as Mr Holmes, and did so while reading this. George Bernard Shaw is a favorite of mine, and I recognized him immediately from Watson's description while observing him approaching 221B. The book is good, but not as good as some others in this same genre. Nicholas Meyer is able to include historical figures in his stories without being incredibly annoying or having them out of character. He also doesn't "name drop" and stuff as many as he can in, but sticks to those plausible with the story.
