Some people will argue that the series is still good in this book, but I'm of the opinion that once you get past the first 3 books, the series takes a steep downhill slant, because at this point, Jordan tries to get all epic on your ass. And he just doesn't cut it. Also at this point, Jordan starts to really recycle the "she frowned and folded her arms over her chest" phrase.

a beautiful, meditative book
Thom and His son Jess did extensive research interviewing over 100 people who were born from 1980 to 1993. The research is pretty interesting especially coming from two evangelical Christians. I think I am able to understand most of my interns at the church a little bit better after reading this book. I felt like it was a bit overly positive. We had no statistics on sexual abuse, crime, and other negative things that may have influence over peoples behaviors, and thought process's. However it was still a good enough read to glean some things from. I would recomend skimming through it or listening to the audio version.

YAWN - this was even more soporific than P&P. I had to force myself to read it and thus remember scarce little about it...even the film was similarly soporific!
Literature or not, I can pretty much confess with clear conscience I despised reading this book. What attracts me to a book more than anything is character development. Deep, intricate people in whom I feel I am vicariously living enthrall me. These characters we're blase' to the max. Sure, there is a hidden theme throughout the book showing the folly of living for pleasure and acceptance, but I'm pretty sure they beat that horse dead by the end- which I WOULD say came far too quickly being I enjoy a good, long read- but not so much in this case.

Wow, this was as fascinating a book as I've read in a long time. Interestingly, I read the Swanson's followup book, "Bloody Crimes" first, and now understand fully the praise for this, first book.
this book is like the journalist's version of t.c. boyle's tortilla curtain. a pretty good read, though somewhat out of date in this, the "post 9/11." if anyone has a suggestion on a more current migrant worker non-fiction, i'd love to read it.
Another adventure with my favorite shopper. I didn't like this one as much. Waaaayyy too much conflict and makes you want to punch said sister in the eye. But of course, ends on an up beat. Overall, still ok. Again, good fluff.
