Entertaining, but not very deep.

Mediocre, predictable, but not completely without any redeeming qualities. The downfall lies in the predictability of both the storyline and the characters -both were far too predictable. On the other hand, in the hands of the right producer with excellent actors, it might potentially make a better movie than book. Ultimately the story fails to progress beyond the one dimension it attains on page one. More potential than it manages, unfortunately, to reach.

Finally got back to it. Required reading for any Hyde Parker.
Disappointing, if true.

If you are an equestrian who enjoys fast-paced books then you should give this book a go. The characters are especially cheerful, but the horses are to die for (by reading the author's descriptions). I loved it, but it may be boring for someone who isn't into english riding. :)
I'm a die-hard Keanu Reeves fan (LONG LIVE NEO!), so any book I can read about him is a winner for me. This one isn't in depth by any means, but it's filled with some cool pics taken from his earlier career. It's a keeper for a Keanu fan, that's for sure.
I am a big fan of vamp stories and this is a refreshing take on vampire folklore. I have never read Butler and I found her writing intoxicating, creative, and addictive. I felt that this book was the beginning of a trilogy that Butler died before she finished......or maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part. The only thing I found disturbing is that the main character looked like a child even though she was over 50 and yet she had these sexual encounters with adults.
This is a book I love to buy copies of when I find them in used bookshops just to give them away. Her prose is so absolutely stunning (I remember thinking I might become a high school teacher when I was reading it and collecting similes and metaphors to show my students, as they were super-gems of figurative language) and the spinning storylines are excellent. This is one that is high up on my to-re-read list.

She writes about being a child, a mom, a boss, being in show biz, meeting Palin, etc. I felt I was reading a memoir by someone who did not want to let you in or perhaps (with as plunked out as the last chapter came across) maybe just did not have time to do so. Really, I would call it a series of essays - a mix of funny bits and stories more then I would call it a memoir. A quick read and her self-deprecating sense of humor is for the most part very well expressed in the book. It did have many moments that were extremely funny but she keeps those experiences at a pretty surface level and so this book ultimately left me unsatisfied. Not sorry I read it but just a bit unsatisfying.
