I like this author and the easy reads. I will have Korde read them eventually. I love the story here...kind of like ugly duckling meets Snow White...sort of. Good fast read.

"Thirteen Reasons Why" is more of a teenager girls book. It's about a high school teen who oesn't get noticed very well in the hall ways or her classes. When Hannah doesn't get noticed, it's not the news you would want to go around about yourself. The girl isn't the one who causes the problems nor has any reason to give people to say anything. I would recommend this book if your interested into sucidial and mystery. This has some kind of mystery into because Clay, the main character from her school, recieves thirteen tape recordings of her giving thirteen reasons why she killed herself. In those thirteen reasons, are thirteen people who effected her life in some way and all those thirteen people recieves the tape recordings. I thought this book was very drawn out. Her tape recordings are detailed and explains every event that happened in her high school years. It's not a bad thing that it's like that, it keeps you interested and drawn into the book. The events that happen to her are every average high school teen girl who gets troubled with older people spreading rumors, going to a party and being troubled with older drunk guys, and thinking she loves someone but doesn't make any effort for it. When the book isn't explain her thirteen reasons why, Clay is getting anxious and scared for his name to come up. Once Clay listens to his part, he's the last one to pass it on to the last person. He's scared to go to school the next day to face the other twelve teens who were on the tapes.

Well written. All about toxic relationships -- parental, romantic.
Really, I've read this book through, and have thus applied it to our life :) It's a great starter vegetarian cookbook, and we've enjoyed several recipes from it such as Curried Sweet Potatoes and Lentils (no, really!) and Risotto Primavera (yummers).

This book drew me in because of the story line and I could not put it down after I started. However, like several of Koontz's other books, sometimes the story line goes over the top. Sometimes I think his books would be better if he kept the story line more reasonable and did not try to shock the reader every time. Koontz draws me in because he creates thrilling situations that happen to every day people and that what makes a good thriller. In Velocity, he picks on an every day quiet bartender with a disturbing childhood as the hero. Most readers will like this main character, but might find themselves saying "Oh, come on..." at points throughout the book. But maybe that is also a characteristic of a good thriller...

I am always interested in stories where someone leaves their job and heads off to some unknown country. This is one of those stories, and it is an interesting look at Bhutan, a country I first learned about in The Geography of Bliss. Napoli is a reporter by training so there is a lot of useful background information on Bhutan, not just her own experience there.

Dry at times, but a truly inspiring read of an extraordinary woman who helped so many during the Holocaust.
