Funny, sincere and eye opening, and i would recommend to anyone who just has a baby. It is quite American but there's enough in there to make it worth the read.

The first in the Twilight series is also my favorite. This is a highly entertaining book for the casual reader looking for something light and fun. And of course, required reading for anyone who works with teenagers and wants to understand the phenomenon! In this first novel, at least, the main character Bella is a strong heroine who girls will find easy to relate to.

I don't know where to even begin with this review. I loved this book, and I don't think that I can possibly explain all the reasons why I loved it. You're just going to have to trust me. That cover made me click the link to Goodreads, but the blurb made me think I have to have this book. It sounded completely unique to me and it definitely was. It was also nothing like I was expecting. It was even better. The Miseducation of Cameron Post is richly detailed and very character driven and that makes the pacing slower than most YA contemps. The pace was never an issue for me, and that's coming from someone that gets bored pretty easily. I was hooked within the first few pages. So much so that I really never wanted to put it down. The book follows Cameron's day to day life mostly. Like I said, it's a character driven novel. Cameron had a distinct, honest, and realistic voice. It was very hard to get her out of my head even when I wasn't reading. Not that I really wanted to because I adored her. She had some heartbreaking things happen to her, but throughout it she was strong. I wish that she would have stood up for herself more, but I guess that's just not who she really was. I think we only scratched the surface with her anyway. She was very complex. There are lots of characters in the book. Lots. I loved every single one. Even Aunt Ruth and all her faults. Grandma, Jamie, Coley, Jane, and, Adam were fantastic and just as realistic as Cameron. The small town setting was perfect for the story and I also loved that Danforth doesn't hold back when it comes to what teens do in their free. Well, at least most teens. That's another reason the story is so believable. Mostly, I just loved this book. I hope that I make that clear. *grin* The ending was a tiny bit surprising. I was really hoping Cameron would take a stand, but things go in a different direction. There were also a lot of things left open. I guess I can come to my own conclusions, but this is one of the rare cases where I wouldn't mind having a sequel to a contemporary book. Honestly, I will read anything that Emily M. Danforth writes in the future. Her writing is lush and beautiful. Her characters are so realistic that they have been lingering in my mind for days. This is a superb debut and I highly recommend it.
this is one of the most beautiful novels I've ever read. I was in tears by the end, and I haven't cried over a book in years. it's a short book - it only took me a hour or so to read - but so much beauty is crammed into it. forget it's a YA book, and just read it. I can't recommend this enough.

A tough book to start but it caught my attention once it started. A story about two Afgahnastan children from different walks of life and how they become friends. After a violent act occurs to one of the boys everything changes. It gives the reader a different look at the Afgahnastan life.

I have dragged this poor book all over the world this spring. Now that I've finally finished it, I miss Mr. Matchett already. He turned out to be a very funny writer: "We should have been visiting the brand new Circuit Autodromo Municipal de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires in Argentina (I hope you pronounced that correctly and didn't just skip over it)." Overall, it would have been a tad more interesting if he had more pronounced opinions in general. To wit, a typical sentence: "A little annoying perhaps but not too bad." But perhaps he's just an amiable chap. He even rides the fence when it comes to the controversial practice of refueling. He was actually IN the refueling fire at Hockenheim and expresses his keen desire to end the practice, but also says that if it's required, then he'll keep doing it. He's at his most passionate when discussing the new rules for 1994 that removed active suspension, traction control, and other controls. He says: "To me, Formula One represents the pinnacle of mechanical engineering. It is the constant battle between the abilities of rival teams and the laws of physics, to produce the ultimate in engineering excellence. Apparently people wanted Formula One to be portrayed as a Drivers' Championship, not as a Constructors' Championship." Interesting, eh? Discuss.
