"Shahname's end is good".( I don't know if I use the correct words) but shahname plays an important roll in every persian's life. what I mean about "persian" is :not only Iranians life but also lots of other people who are familier with Farsi( persian) language. all these people read Shahname once upon their life and I'm sure that they'd love it.

When I first put this on my currently reading shelf, I was surprised to see such low ratings since this won the Booker Prize last year and I had read good reviews. Now that I'm done, I see why. The writing is really amazing. I would read more Howard Jacobson since his writing is so good. But I didn't like any of these characters, and I found the examination of Jewish identity annoying. There were times in the book when it got away from this central theme, and I enjoyed those parts best, but then it would always return to the Jewish stuff. I'm Jewish, but this didn't speak to me largely because I think it expressed the author's viewpoint of an older, male, British Jew. Hopefully his other books have different themes.

This book is a pure roller coaster, it is like you're climbing a mountain and you ALMOST Make it to the top and you fall down 100 times before getting to the top. It was a great book but it drove me crazy near the end, like everyone says it is very frustrating but you can't put it down - I didn't have any jaw dropping moments like I like books to do, instead I pounded my head against the wall and was tense the entire book...but it was worth it all in the end for sure!

Interesting perspective on that time and place in history but I didn't care for the ending at all. With all the detail description throughout the book, I did not think it wrapped up well.

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't the earth shaking book that I had been led to believe. It was a cute book, interesting protagonist with a southern vampire feel that I hadn't really seen before. The world reminded me of a more gentle Nancy A. Collins, but it was clearly all Charlaine Harris. I'll try another.
great stories. great writing. mouth-watering recipes.
Guilty pleasure...a book from my favorite humorous/travel writer Bill Bryson about growing up in Des Moines, Iowas in the 50's. Which, as it turns out, is not that much different from growing up in Iowa in the 80's! People on the CTA were staring at me as I snickered and chortled aloud.

So sad! But it shows the ugly truth of war.

I still love charlie, but this book is either an experiment gone wrong or a pulp writer's attempt to be loved by the New York Times book reviewer and not his fans. Couldn't stand it after 100 pages.
