Better than I thought it was going to be - so much so that I've already got the next one. Not exactly action packed but the characters are really well written (if a little whiney) and certainly leave you wanting to know more about what happens to them.

This book was recommended to me by a few co-workers back in Melbourne. It took me a long time to finally get to it and even longer to actually finish it, after closing the final page at noon in my stuffy hotel room in Chiangmai, Thailand; well I'm glad I finally did. It’s a great and clever adventure that I would describe as fusing Oliver Twist, The Count of Monte Crisco, and The Princess Bride all rolled into one. I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book because it’s basically about thieves and long cons which isn't really something I normally like, but the book really surprised me. There were times that I thought, “Okay, I see where this is going. I know what’s going to happen. Man am I a clever shit!” Well I wasn’t and I’m not. I couldn’t figure out where it was all going in the end the Scott Lynch, whose first book this is, did a masterful job at weaving a truly engrossing story. Scott was born 9 days after me in 1978 in St Paul, MN where I used to live. Its guys like this who make me ashamed I’ve accomplished so little myself being the same age. Well I’m a fan now and will eventually read his next book in this series called Red Seas Under Red Skies when I get through my pile of books already in my reading queue. He has a third one (3rd of 7) coming out in March 2012 so maybe I’ll have #2 read by then. I doubt it.

5 stars, this is the best angel series I have read. It was such an emotional book and I almost cried a few times. But the story was so good. I knew something bad was going to happen, but even with the sad stuff it was still a wonderfull and happy book. I really love the place where it all takes place. I know this sounds strange, but when I hear Clara describing the environment, I wish I could be there too. I really don't know how to start this review I am still so full of emotions after finishing it. It really is a great book. I love the story, it is so good and original. I really like the idea of angel-blood roaming the earth while trying to fullfill their purpose. This books gives us some more anshwers but also gives me more questions and I am really looking forward to reading the next book. This book is really emotional. Clara is going through so much and the whole book has a sense of foreboding, something bad is going ot happen. And something bad does happen, but all in all it still end with a positive note and I think everyhting plays out how it should. I was also surpised by all the unexpected twist and turns in the book. I love the unexpectedness of the story and how the book could surpise me. The characters. I really love the characters. All of them, I get the feeling I really know them and I like seeing how they interact. Just the way they react to things really gives me a sense of who they are. I also really like the main character, Clara and how she deals with everything. She is strong, but also has a very vulnerable side. She isn't a character who always knows what to do, she is confused most of the times and struggles to make the best of this. She really is a great lead character and I can't wait to read more about her. To conclude I really liked this book. It was very emotional. The story is very good and I really like the characters. I also love how the author describes the environment so good that I want to see it for myself.

My daughter shared this with me and my son over Christmas and we got pretty fascinated by it. It's pretty interesting to get a completely different feel from the Bible by reading it in contemporary language. I can't comment on the scholarship, but the writing is very readable.

I enjoy the warped sense of humor in these books. Even though he is a serial killer, he is only killing the bad people. I only have 1 more to read and then I'll have to wait for Jeff Lindsay to write more.

I think I preferred this book to the original, it played in my heads for weeks afterwards and generally freaked me out a little which is what all great classic kids books should do!

But leaves out the guy in charge of her loan is Abby's high school sweetheart Trace. Trace makes Abby stay in Cheapshores to be in charge of Jess's finances. Trace and Abby work on there relationship with roadblocks along the way which include Abby's ex Wes, her parents, and siblings. This was the first book I've read by Sherryl Woods and I really enjoyed it. I'm waiting for Bree's story at the end of this month I can't wait.
