I love this book. It has two very interesting stories in it. Tanya Huff comes up with extremely doable characters.

I am so very impressed with this book....It gives me hope for future generations of readers. In a time when trite novels like Twilight are becoming popular with young adults, there are books....and then there are true tales that capture the imagination and set you off with characters you can enjoy. This is definitely one of those books.[return][return]I spent my day until 3am reading this book...I had the foresight to wait to read this until the third one came out...I'm not a fan of waiting to find out what happens (I did the same for Stephen Lawhead's King Raven Trilogy...I waited until the third novel came out before I even THOUGHT to read the first.) I have high hopes for the next two.[return][return]After a few chapters, my favourite character was very obviously Dustfinger - who is, at times, the bad guy and the good guy....His character alone kept you in suspense. Will he change his mind? We he be the betrayer or the betrayed? What good can come of him? A good comparison would be Harry Potter's Professor Snape....While Dustfinger doesn't come off an instantly evil as Snape does, he certainly keeps you guessing in the same manner.[return][return]I hadn't known there was a movie before reading some of these reviews...After researching it on IMDB for a minute, I found out two things...(1) I'd like to see it and see if it holds a candle to the novels, and (2) my favourite character is played by my all-time favourite actor (Paul Bettany.) Sometimes, things just work out very well in your favour....

I enjoyed this book about Victorian England. The author follows Tiny Tim into adulthood. He lives a dark life, living in a brothel and befriending the girls there. It turns into a murder mystery as Tiny Tim finds a couple of dead girls with the same brands on their arms. I recommended it to a friend who found it too creepy (she said she hates books where kids are victims). Another friend really liked it.

Another one to save for Switzerland. It's gotten good reviews and is apparently controversial. Anyone read it yet?
Really liked this light book. Easy to read.

i found this book to be like watching a train wreck. it was disturbing and yet i couldn't stop reading it. maybe because i missed this phase in my life, maybe because i probably worked with girls like this when i waitressed with all those 15 year olds who said "i can drink like a fish." but two things did bother me about this book on a whole. it was kinda pointless, especially the end. nothing seemed really resolved, "one day i gave up drinking." maybe because the rest of the book seemed so played up that i was waiting for the dramatic climax. it was hard for the author to be believe-able after reading all those pages of intense alcohol use for her to say, well, i wasn't an alcoholic so i could just stop whenever i wanted to. secondly i think there is a danger in generalizing her story to the entirety of american girlhood, the way the reviewers did. maybe we all are binge drinkers, maybe we all have used that liquid escape but have we all really? and i can't say that my reasons for drinking have matched the author's.
