My favorite book of all time. The classic myth of Cupid and Psyche retold in the perspective of Psyche's sister. This story shows how a pure love leads to a harmful obession.

This is a fun little novel about a good girl going just a little bad. Amelia is a small-town girl with a heart of gold, and she's been in love with her fiance since grade school. When he dumps her, she's devastated - and even more upset when she realizes she doesn't really know who she is or what she likes. She's spent her entire young adulthood trying to please her ex, and now it's time to find out how to please herself. An organizational whiz for the Bellagio shoe company, Amelia takes a temporary assignment in Florida and meets mysterious Jack. He helps her round out her "things to try" life list. She shows him what it means to have someone care about you. Naturally, sparks fly. Once they're back to real life in Atlanta, though, things get rocky, and Amelia and Jack have to figure out how to merge their private relationship into their workaday lives. To complicate things, Jack's not quite who he seems, and Amelia's younger sister is getting married - with Amelia's ex standing as the groom's best man. Nice depiction of a relationship where two people get to know each other, warts and all, and move ahead by encouraging each other's best traits to grow.

I really wanted to like this book, but it fell short of what I was hoping for. It focused entirely on the local politics that lead to the building of the subway, rather than a split between the politics and the engineering. Maybe as an engineer I'm just expecting too much from my histories, but I was really excited to learn how such a large subway with so many water-crossings was built. Worth a read if you're curious, but if you struggle with nonfiction it may be hard to get through.

This one was almost as good as the second volume. I loved the Beauty and the Beast one. The artwork for Little Miss Muffet and The Juniper Tree weren't as good in my opinion.

I gobbled it right up, despite its overtweeness, but the end is SO STUPID!!! I mean, come on!!!!

I have a love/hate relationship with this book. I had to start the book three times before finishing it. But upon reading it the third time I discovered a depth that was truly profound. This book is a challenge, a very difficult challenge that is rewarding if you place the time and effort into understanding everything Pirsig has to offer.

Very interesting story of a girl growing up in 1800's rural China in a very traditional family, and then her life as she marries, and grows old. It was just fascinating to move through her life events, her feet binding, arranged marriage, and other events that are so far removed from my own experiences, but I still felt connected to her. I suppose that would be good writing.

3.5? I'm not sure. I actually really liked the main couple of Bailey and John. The plot here is similar to the others in that the men in this Black Ops group all had prior lives and "died" before being reborn into their new roles. John was Trent, Bailey's Australian lover before the attempt on his life. He was scarred and had surgery, changing his looks. That's where it's hard for me to suspend my disbelief. I have always had a hard time believing that one wouldn't recognize a former lover by voice, body, etc., even after surgery. But hey, I love paranormals and those are obviously not realistic, so I can try. That being said, John and Bailey were great together :).

A decent collection of Gaiman short stories. Nothing particularly amazing for him, but worth the read for his creepy imagination and excellent storytelling. Really, his best work comes in comic book or novel form, but he's not bad at the short story.

Not, perhaps, one of Maeve Binchy's finest works... but I still enjoyed it. I think I would enjoy reading a grocery list, if Maeve wrote it! She has a way with words that is oddly like music to me.
