I'm only 2 chapters in and I already love this. We went to the book signing at GWU for the book release and heard Penn talk a bit about the book. It was a good time, and the book truly reflects how hilarious he is in person.

Marc Parent tells an honest, heartfelt account of the children and parents (usually mothers) he met while working with NYC's Emergency Children's Services. An idealist, Marc fought hard for every family he met, and writes their stories with reverence and poise, never accusatory to the parents who failed or the system that was disorganized and unsupportive. It was a very educational and inspirational book for myself, as I once thought about becoming a DCF caseworker, and have considered social work as a career. Parent was open in his thoughts and honest with the reader about his own struggles and difficulties he ran into while working. I don't know if this is a book for everyone, as the subject matter itself is disturbing and some of the content is hard-to-swallow, but Parent is an enlightened man who believes in the goodness of each person, and his outlook is something that I believe could inspire almost anyone.

I like these books and the story line, but I'm so not into incomplete, cliff-hanger books. Give me an ending, I'll still read the next one. Sigh... I still don't like love triangles either :) Exciting and fun overall.
A great book to read when you're going through changes or traveling, or just want to sit back and wonder what it's all about. I found it a bit trite, but it's meant to be a simple allegory that's quick and digestible, though not terribly memorable.
My dear friend Ann sent me this book and the sequel. It was great fun to read of a British woman whose husband is going to divorce her but dies immediately after in a car crash. She then may go on with her life as she pleases and she chooses to move her two sons to the city where her Gram is. She takes over Gram's knitting shop and has many adventures. Well written, well paced...I care about Jo(sephine) Mackenzie and her adventures. The Britishisms are especially endearing!
Forbidden! Where to start? This novel isn’t like any other novel I have ever read--from the plot to the characters. When I first read the synopsis, to be honest, I was disgusted. My second thought was, interesting, because I have never read anything on incest. Still, this novel is outstanding and that’s what I love about it. Reading Forbidden was an emotional roller coaster. Seriously. This novel covers tough topics like family struggle, incest and the consequences that come with it. As a character, I loved Lochan and Maya, especially Lochan because he shouldered many responsibilities in the household. Lochan is an interesting and memorable character with more depth than we get to see from guys in YA books or, dare I say it, in reality. Even though the idea is revolting, you can’t help it but wish happy ending for Lochan and Maya. Truthfully, this novel would break your heart: by the end of the book I was sobbing, and I’ve never cried like this for a novel. You’ll definitely need a box of tissue when you read this book. Overall, Tabitha’s writing was brilliant and I recommend this book for everyone over the age of 16 and up. (Be warned: There are parts in the novel that aren’t recommended for children to read.)

Having loved "Midnight's Children," which I read in college, I have always wanted to read this book since it brought Salman Rushdie so much...attention. I wish I had read this in college as well because Im sure much of its beauty and significance went straight over my head. Neverthless, Im glad I read it - Rushdie is a wonderful story-teller, while the book can jump around quite a bit. But his overall message about good and evil is unfolded in a very magical way.
FUN & CUTE READ! I totally love dragons due to their massive power and strength. For a short fast paced story it had me smiling and saying AWE in the end. The erotic love scenes were very hot and playful. I only wanted the story to continue on even after the great happy ever after. In this story both characters Haden (Fire Dragon) and Monica (Spirit Dragon) are living in the earth realm for the time being until the time comes when they both have to meet their destinies at the 50 year Dragon gathering where an arranged marriage takes place between the spirit dragon and an elemental dragon (Earth, Air, Water, Fire) in order to keep peace between the species, an arrangement made and planned way before they were even born. However, Monica and Andrew do not know each other is a dragon for they are cloaked with an elemental amulet to hide their powers in the earth realm so they see each other as just a human and as their friendship blossoms into love it becomes even more difficult to keep themselves from thinking there could be a future with each other as faiths destiny plays with them in the earth realm. Even with each dragon having their own guardians (their friends) interfering and protecting them in the earth realm to keep them from falling in love with a human, destiny never fails in the end. Great Story!

Wow. This book is about much more than football. I loved the back story about the economics and politics of the time, giving you a better idea of what life was like in the town then. It made all the football action seem more real and more interesting. Definitely recommended.
我很久以前就读过这篇文章,但故事一直困扰着我。 我想我有一天想再读一遍。
