This book had a beginning that felt slow-paced and relaxing, despite the violence and upheaval in the story. I felt as if I was only reading the book leisurely, and all of a sudden I was engrossed, finding myself a surprisingly far 200+ pages in. Powerful and involving narrative.

This is one amazing woman. I admire her strength and courage. The world needs more people like her who ask questions, seek answers and want change. Although I was raised in a Catholic family I identify with her struggles with her religion. I constantly asked questions that didn't have satisfactory answers or I thought were just wrong. She compares religion to a cage and I agree with her. If you are brought up so long being taught what is "right" and "wrong" you no longer see clearly, even when the door to that cage is open. I highly reccommend this book. Her story is just amazing.

I liked this book a lot. Set in Berlin between 1922 and 1936,the heroine's tone of voice was witty & well-written. Having just finished Fall of Giants about WWI and the German/Russian historical events leading up to it, the historical background of this book is very germane. Scary too as it leads toward WWII . The element of suspense has you sitting on the edge of your seat.

Eat pray love--my 3 words! Of course naturally I am first drawn to this book by its title. Immediately though, Gilbert, with her casual writing style, humor, and quirky personality, opens up and speaks to me like an old friend and so now I feel compelled to listen to her story. Indeed, Gilbert appears self-involved but that is the point of the book. She is on a one-year journey to save herself after a terrible incident tears her apart. Everyone can relate to her quest on one's individual level--from the night she first called to God on the bathroom floor to her harmless food indulgences in Italy to her struggles with self-discipline in India. Read it to witness the infinite healing power of God, love*, and goood food! Watch her as she grows out of the depths of despair and into the light of faith, and be inspired. *For souls who love too much, bead 48 is a must read :).

This was a treat. I'll admit, the beginning seemed to go on a little longer as a "warm up" than I thought I could handle, but then it took off and I found it quite charming.

i really like the series
Sometimes you just have to go back and read something from the old school. What's not to like? The men are weanies and the women are money-hungry. Jolly times in Old England!

Seré sincero: esperaba más acción y aventura. Creí que la obra sería más extensa. Sin embargo, me agradó mucho más la versión original en griego, se digiere mejor y presenta un especial sabor el poder leer la obra en su lengua original
