Another sweet book from the wonderful Rachael of Yarnagogo! I really loved the way the characters were tied in together so well, so lovingly. Also? Mildred and Greta? Lovelovelove. Need more! I would say more but can't seem to do it without giving too much away. Can't wait for the next book!

An ordinary high schooler Dave Lizewsky was an avid comic book follower who had a very interesting imagination. He once wondered to himself what would it be like to be an actual superhero. Dave knew that flying and super powers were not real but that did not stop him. He went online and ordered himself a costume and two sticks and that was when his new persona Kick Ass was born. Dave dedicated his life to fighting crime and protecting the city from evil. This is a great storyline and just another great example of good vs. evil. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who likes a truly heroic story.

This book could easily be made into a movie. In fact the premise sounds like one. Little kid watches as 6 men gun down his father in cold blood. Then he learns to use a six gun, becomes one of the fastest gunslingers, and when he gets old enough he rides out looking for those men. He finds them and avenges his fathers murder. He dies in his bed and old man full of years. But not before a major university gets his permission to use him as a their mascot (OSU). And he writes his memoirs which are printed in this volume. My Grandpa saw Mr. Eaton in a parade when he was a kid. Word about town was that at the nursing home Mr. Eaton never would give up his guns and he wore them till the day he died.

** spoiler alert ** ----This review contains a spoiler!----- This is a gripping thriller which initially felt like an intelligent piece of work. It kept me turning the pages as the main character and his companion raced back and forth across Rome at a breathtaking pace. For those who love culture and art with a dose of murder and intrigue thrown in, this seemed to be ticking the boxes. Then something happened. The incredulity I felt for the storyline was surpassed by that which I felt for the author, having decided to leave such appalling drivel in his final draft. --SPOILER-- Ready for it? The main character jumps out of a helicopter at several thousand feet, holding onto a plastic bag for a parachute, steers himself towards and lands in the River Tiber. And he survives. To insult the reader further, the author even seems to make a passing acknowledgement of the implausibility of this by adding that he survived because the River Tiber was in full spate at the time. So, presumably the water was 30 feet deep instead of its normal 15 feet.... and yes, let me say it again.... one could fall from several thousand feet holding onto a plastic bag and be back to one's regular high-jinks in no time. This should have been a five star review. After the research and thought that obviously went into this novel to make it such a fascinating page turner, one would hope that there would be nothing absolutely ludicrous remaining in the final draft. A sorry outcome.
