** spoiler alert ** It was good, but it was like all the characters shut off at the end. All the plots died, and you couldn't tell what was going to happen. Then before you know it they're off to London and it's like nothing ever happened.

I would have given this book only three stars if it were an adult book. Since it's a young adult book, I think that it deserves four stars. It's really an advanced topic for a young adult. It deals with cloning and harvesting poppies for opium. Why did I read it? I saw it in a used bookstore (thinck with a red and black cover), and the cover did not let on that it was a young adult book. It wasn't until I left the bookstore that I noticed the label on the cover which said "Newberry Award", and then I remembered that this was an award given to books for kids. So I decided to read it anyhow, and I am glad that I did.

Sometimes I see something odd enough that I need to read it; this definitely qualified. The history of the potato chip made for a nice quick airplane book. I may keep an eye out for other works from the author; I'd think favorably of a book if it was written by this author, but, I don't know that I'd go out of my way to find books by them.
