Heather told me this was a great book and she was right. The book is about a southern Jewish boy right after the civil war ends and a yankee Jewish soldier who stops at their house and joins them for Seder. This is a beautiful book and very well done. Grades 2+

The series has a good plot/storyline, however the writing isn't that great. And it can have overbearing Christian tones to it at times. Overall, the series is okay - nothing great not the worst.

This book is SOOO good OMG I cant wait for the second one to come out.
One of the must reads. His best work. You read this book and look at the world today, America today... no wonder he decided to swallow a bullet. I miss the devilish bastard.

kinda slow, kinda smug. Was an interesting idea, and I think he learned quite a bit - but I think his experience would have been a lot different if he hadn't had a private school education.

1964 Caldecott Medal Winner Sendak's illustrations look like ink and... watercolor? Not sure. I really want to like this book because it's about how wonderful it is to be a child, and how freeing imagination can be... but I just can't make myself like it. I can empathize with the kid and his fancy of "well if my Mom's going to call me a Wild Thing, I guess I'll just go live in the Land of Wild Things," but I've always thought the Wild Things were creepy-looking. Some people I know LOVE Sendak's art, but... meh. It doesn't do it for me.

Very touching. I felt so sorry for Gatsby in the end because his unrequited heart and love for Daisy was never fulfilled. This book would always be an all-American classic novel because of the very classic message of "luxury can not always buy you everything". Although it benefits us for our future generations, it is not genuine when it comes to friendship, love and partnership. Once you are gone, no one will remember who you are, except for your money. -♥0JAY.GATSBY0
